Re: Pay for Elite but always drops back to Pro speed

There's some information we need:
1) What is the make and model of the modem?
2) Post the stats from the modem.
3) Run a Line Quality Test from »/linequality and post the resultant URL.

See if this FAQ lets you get to the stats »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »How do I access the 2210 line stats and event logs? What do the numbers mean?

Do you have a router between your modem and computer? You are blocked to ping, so the Line Quality Test didn't show anything useful.

Ok, I think this line test looks better.

»/linequality/nil/2534954

Yea, I have a router. I'll try what the link says to do.

Thanks!

That goes all the way to your public IP address now and the data looks OK.

Once you get sorted out how to get the stats, do the following:
1) Unplug the modem from the ac line and the phone line.
2) Let it sit for 10 minutes.
3) Plug both lines back in.
4) As soon as you have a connection to the internet run a Line Quality Test, get the stats from the modem, run a speed test and post all that back here.

Then, when the speed goes back down, do all of step 4 again.

That would be the Motorola 2210. Different firmware is issued in AT&T Southeast, and the former SBC footprint. Try this:

»192.168.1.254

If you have a router, you may need to disconnect from the router and connect directly to the modem. You should get the basic modem GUI, with a series of blue and gray buttons down the left side of the page.

In that 8 hour period, you moved about 34000 packets from the internet into your machine. Of those, you got 9964 error packets. That is probably what caused your modem to downgrade your max speed from 6016 to 3008. You need to determine what is causing that.

There are several FAQ articles in the AT&T fora that discuss what causes these errors, how to determine what is causing your problem, and how to fix the problem.
