Re: Must visit local office?

Ignore the rude guys, Duchess.
It is likely for security reasons, so nobody else can change the detail services on the account.
This sort of thing varies by area depending on their experience.
Since it is their mistake, do it when it's convienent/you happen to be going by the office.

If it's not bothering you all that much, just forget about. Comcast will still take your payment, even if your name is different.

Comcast spelled my last name incorrectly as well. I figure what the hell. I'm not going to waste my time on the phone, or in person trying to change it.

Any company that you want your name changed requires verification they cannot just do that over the phone. So if you go to the office you can show them proof and easily change the misspelled name.

So are you saying that when they were here, in my home, and I signed my paperwork and read everything and the name was spelled correctly then. And when I gave them my check with my name on it...they couldn't get it right? And you're expecting them to get it right when I waste my gas and time to go see them face to face again?

I wonder if they require that to prevent people from taking over other peoples comcast accounts. I would not be surprised if other providers are the same way. (Or require written proof).

Ok, I recieved my first bill as a new Comcast customer today. I noticed my last name is misspelled really bad. I called to get it fixed and was told that I would have to visit the local office to get it fixed. Really? Never had that happen before. I have always been able to call and straighten things like that out.

She told me it was for security reasons. What?? Whatever. I said it doesn't bother me in the least..it's your account/billing information that will be screwed.

Something tells me this is the beginning of a very short relationship.
