Re: RCMP using intimidation to silence Olympic protest

Asking for someones whereabouts to collect information isn't intimidation.

3 burly RCMPer's standing at her, one at each side and one in front. With one cracking his knuckles as he says to her "Stop doing this shit or it'll get nasty..." then letting her go is intimidation.

If the allegations are true then I would say the tactics are somewhat heavy handed:
quote:
They allegedly told diner owners she was needed to give information as a witness to an accident.
Maybe you should read a little closer. Investigations are fine but when you start lying to gather information that doesn't sit well with me.

I read that, and saw "allegedly." This sounds like ridiculous drama over a small issue that this woman blew out of proportion.

You allegedly hit my car and smeared orange paint down my front sidewalk. See it's pretty easy isn't it to come up with random allegations which aren't true.

Perhaps I'm highly cynical these days with 'protesters' and for good reason. Most lie as naturally as they breath, for good reason. Attempting to gain traction in newspapers for their own wants.

Speaking of which I read it just fine, I disregarded bad journalism and a bad article.

So you think it would be better if they had told the patrons that she was a nutjob activist and they were investigating her to make sure she wasn't planning any terrorist acts at the Olympics?

Yeah, that's much better...

Another member of the network, Garth Mullins, said demonstrations and protest actions such as road blocks are part of civil society.
Good enough reason right there.
