 Anyone else pre-order windows 7?

For $65 home premium seems like a good deal. Don't know why it has to be $15 more expensive (thats more than 25%) than in the states. We are always getting screwed like this...

Well I hope it lives up to its reputation.

I'm considering it, but it'd just sit there until the first service pack if I did.

I've switched to Linux and use XP for games. Perhaps I'll order Windows 7 when DirectX 10 and 11 games become more popular.

Btw, this topic should be in »Canadian Chat

So, you're blowing money for a good deal, on something you haven't tried yet?
Shareholders' wet dream.

Use linux, I recommend Ubuntu. It is a waste of money. Save your money for hardware.

Yea, with all the new changes to 2.6.30, a heavily tweaked Linux kernel can load the OS almost as quick as a Vista x64 system on current hardware.

My computer buddy likes it enough he said he might even buy it legit.
I took notice of that enough to get the free use beta and give it a look.

The first thing it did, was refuse to acknowledge my Motherboard install cd. Kinda lost my interest at light speed right there.
I might have stuck it out if I had the ability to have sound, but without my drivers, it was a no go. And the summer heat is not when I feel like fighting with an install of an OS.

I will likely gladly convert next year, when it's not beta, and maybe if it can at least relate to my hardware.
But pay for it? Hmm, can't see me paying X hundreds of dollars for something I KNOW will become persona non grata in 2 years or less.

Maybe if MS realized that not all of us feel like chipping into Bill Gates' charity fund donation generator every 2-3 years, it might make a difference.
Maybe if Bill stopped giving his money away, he could actually drop the damn price of the OS too.
100-200-300 bucks!!? why not 40-50-60 bucks like all the other PC software out there eh.

I would kind of like to buy an OS that would remain viable for 10 years with free updates made available. Because X hundreds of dollars, better get me several years worth of service, or I will just continue to obtain his OS in the usual fashion.

I have never heard of anyone where it wouldn't see the motherboard. I"m calling bullshit on that.

Re-read, relax, he said "motherboard install CD" which makes sense if his board is pre-Windows 7. He's clearly not a technical person so give him some slack

I'll have a legitimate copy of the RTM from Technet before any of you guys get your pre-ordered copies in the mail.

I have no doubt some people will have an illegitimate copy of the RTM before you get your legitimate copy from Technet :P

(I don't mean me, we have msdn, technet and action pack as well. I was being facetious.)

LOL who cares I am not even remotely interested in windows 7. But the time windows is no longer support windows 8 will probably be released, so windows 7 is a waste of money if you have vista anyway.

If I wanted an illegitimate copy, I could have one. I'm just too tired of breaking WGA or whatever they're calling it now. Easier to wait a few extra weeks.

I pre-ordered... I'll probably want to upgrade when it's released anyway so might as well take the opportunity to save $65.
