| Is this info good or bad on my DSL line trace?

Ok here's the thing. I pay for QWEST's 1.5mbs service in Littleton, CO and I constantly get 0.6 to 0.75mbs download. I would not mind if I was getting slower speeds then advertised as I realize the complications inherent in the architecture but less then half of what I am paying for is unacceptable. I have just started to research all of the excellent info on this site and although not new to computers I am new to the intricacies of networks and broadband technology and terminology.
I am trying to educate myself along with calling QWEST tech support and asking them how far away from the hub I am and if they can switch me to another truck or gateway. So are those numbers bad or good? Any suggestions on how to further my education would be appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Here is a Qwest speed test. Try it a few times. What are the results. Also, do you know what your stats from your modem are. traceroute will not really show anything to do with speed. Just bad routing. |

Connected at 736/736kbs on the modem configuration page at the time of the Qwest speed check. |

There's your problem- you're trained well below the 1.5M you're provisioned for. If you've checked your end in terms of wiring, filters, etc, then you'll need to call Qwest. They may need to send out a tech to check out the line between the DSLAM and your house. |

| reply to ChrisLV426 Yes other more knowledgeable will chime in. Yes that is the correct info. I say ugh. Do you have all the filters in on all phones, fax machines, alarm systems etc. Plus no filter on DSL to the computer. Others I am sure will chime in but to me those numbers are ugh. |

| reply to ChrisLV426 I called QWEST and they have an automated line check before you even talk to a human being and that automated check claims that there is no problem at their end. Which leaves quite a lot open to interpretation. I have a call in to my ISP. We'll see what they say before I call QWEST back and try to get some live support. |

@qwest.net | reply to ChrisLV426 I recommend everyone with DSL replace the phone line from the jack to the modem with a Cat5 phone line. I did it yesterday and increased my speed tests results by 1.5mbps. |

| reply to ChrisLV426 Who's your ISP? It doesn't appear to be Qwest itself - Mammoth Networks is used by resellers, and in my short time using them, has a very shoddy network. Essentially, you're purchasing the line from Qwest and purchasing the actual Internet service from a reseller who happens to use Mammoth.
That said, if you're training at less those speeds, your problem is between your premise and the Qwest DSLAM. |

| reply to ChrisLV426 I have no clue where I got it. It was in my chest of old computer cords, parts, etc. Its a CAT5 cable with RJ11 (phone style) connectors on the ends.
I don't know who makes it but I searched online and found two sites selling CAT5 RJ11 cables.

If anyone can identify the cable I have it has this written on it: SUNF PU (UL) E132276-A TYPE CM 75°C 2PR 24AWG (Y) CSA LL64151-A PCC FT4/CMG CAT.5 - - - UTF |
