| Linksys WirelessN RangePlus Dual Band can eat me!
I just dumped $180 in a new router/adapter combo, and boy what a freakin joke. I put the router right next to the still running Road Runner modem/wireless router and would you believe I can pick up RR's router but not the Linksys Mr. Range Plus, 10x better router.
And it is working (well on anyway), cause I connected up fine when I was right next to it for configuration.
Boy that really burns my ass. |

| You take me too literally. They are a few feet apart on the same bench.
I'm in a different building, about four or five hundred feet from the routers so I don't get very goog reception, obviously. But my Buffalo "high power" Air Station just barely manages it, if the weather is good and the stars are aligned right.
The new N adaptor couldn't see the N router, but could see the RR "G" router although it couldn't connect. My Buffalo adaptor can connect to the RR router but can't even see the N router.
So, much to my dismay and the loss of my money, both the N router and the N adaptor bite by comparison.
Max coverage, my ass! |

| nice! my tx power is at 42mW no doubt if i upped it i could go farther. routers in the master bedroom, goin threw two walls of plaster with steel and full brick exterior (duplex. thus the steel) i could infact probably go even farther if i put it in the attic. but this is georgia that attic gets mighty hot :|
p.s. you may want to edit out those mac's. my paranoia is showing. |

You bought a dual band router - are the router and adapter both communicating on the same band? You should (unless you have the very new Linksys dual band on a single radio model) have two distinct wireless connections - one on 5 Ghz, and one on 2.4 Ghz. |

I guess I'm confused as to how/why a router can run $180. Is the extra cost largely associated with the "adapter" part? -- We could use the £5,000 to buy a spoon. And then fill up with ice cream. |
