Re: [Xtreme] extremely slow dsl extreme 3.0

Find an AT&T tech at most any coffee break site or at a crossbox/DSLAM along the road.Tell him your problem and ask him to please run an MLT test on your phone number. If he is not an ahole, he will be happy to take 3 or 4 minutes to do this simple test on his laptop. I done this many times for customers that stopped and asked for advice.

Thanks for the help to everyone. I am going to do as much as I can before I jump on the phone including finding a tech at the nearby crossbox.

kermit asked "is the modem bridged and router doing pppoe?"
I think so. What is the address to check the settings on my modem with att. I forgot or lost it since I looked it last over a year ago. I will also check the settings at netgear.

The box outside on the street has been hit. It is bent up. The wires inside look rusted and the cover is taped on with duct tape. Don't know if that would make any difference.

Thanks again.

really does sound like a cable facility related trouble, since it worked ok before. A crossbox is a big green box with doors on one side. It sounds to me like a terminal got nailed by a car. That needs to be replaced. Call repair and tell them it is a hazard to the kids and children are playing in and around it. That will possibly get the terminal replaced. If your cable pair got damaged in any way, that could be the gremlin. The phone calls may sound ok but ADSL is alot more sensitive to line issues that voice calls.

The dsl has run correctly since the terminal pedestal got hit. That happened quite a while ago. My real question was about the additional exposure to weather, critters and corrosion because it does not close up well and is duct taped. I did call last year. They left a note saying they were going to replace it, but I guess it is not a priority or AT&T doesn't have the money for such equipment replacements.

What is the url to check the settings on my AT&T modem?
