[Temps] Is 56C normal for a GPU?

I was just looking at some temps for my computer and noticed that my GPU was at 55/56 degrees celsius without even playing a game. Is that normal? It's a 9600GT from XFX. »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···14150277

Sounds similar to other users with that card. Use evga's precision tool and see how fast the fan is running. You can try and up the fan to about 60% or so when idle, and that will lower your temps quite a bit. I have a 8800gs and it idles at 50c until I up the fan. Now it will idle at 44c, and hit 70c when I play World at War.

56C is no problem for a graphics card and nothing to be worried about. Most cards are fine running up to a little over 100C. You can ramp up the fan speed if you don't mind the added noise, or if you're really worried you can get an aftermarket cooler for the card.

No worries here. I was just curious about the temperature because my CPU was running much cooler (max of 47C but currently at 38C at the moment).

I am a bit curious about one more thing. I'm using System Information for Windows and it displays the temperature as shown in this link: »img32.imageshack.us/img32/7172/30003741.jpg

What's the difference between the CPU temp AND the Core#0 and Core#1 temps?

I'm guessing if 56C is normal for the GPU than 49C is normal for the entire system as displayed in that image?

I ask all this because my room for years has always been extremely hot. So I guess now it started to hit me that the heat might damage some of my computer components.
