2 edits | reply to Nomad559 The problem with a slow version is you don't get done watching it for the first time and think "how did he do that?". It just looks like a guy sliding his feet in a weird way.
When someone does it fast, it looks awesome. It tricks a person's brain into thinking he's walking forward while moving backward, and it takes a double take before people actually look closely at the feet and see how it's done. »www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_3v-_p3ESo -- dslr tools | »Orangeface has RETURNED (for firefox users)

| ^^ the moonwalk at the beginning of that with the spin to tip-toe move at the end is epic
BTW, go to 1:30 in this video for a better representation than that weird OP video. ;P
i think MJ was first to call it the moonwalk, instead of the backward slide or whatever... anyway

@insightns.com | reply to Nomad559 I thought MJ invented that dance step. Regardless, they are all amazing dancers and leagues ahead of what I can do. I tip my hat to them all. |

| Jackson really invented nothing at all. He copped all his moves from the old timers as that "origins of the moonwalk" video proves. Nothing wrong with that but let's give credit where it's due. Those old timers.
Jackson was talented but had mental issues. I'm all Jackson'd out. Liked the J5 but not a Mike solo fan..... |

| reply to Nomad559 For the record, La Toya Jackson stated that Michael stole the moonwalk and his whole late '80's look from a transexual nightclub dancer in the Phillipines. |

Anyway... Stating that MJ copped all his moves from the old timers is like stating that Gaetano Vinaccia taught Jimi Hendrix how to play the guitar... Jimi may not have invented the guitar, but he definitely brought it to a level that most had never dreamed. I give credit to where credit is due... MJ could move. -- "The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men." - Plato - |
