[Eastern Ontario] Mail Server down?

I have not been able to send or access email since about 11:30am today. It is now 1:10.

Web is still working.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a network status report anywhere on-line - I could call but tried here first to see if anything was posted

Cogeco Tech support has a recorded message: email servers are down. No mail available.

@cgocable.net

Your business support staff members need to receive these informational updates as well, and perhaps a lesson in internet.

I called earlier and informed the support woman that we use Exchange here with our business Cogeco package with mail.cogeco.ca as a "smart host" (relayer). She insisted it wasn't working because we're using mail.cogeco.ca and that won't work - despite the fact that we've been using that for years, and it resolves to the same address as smtp.cogeco.ca. She wouldn't listen so I gave up in frustration hoping the problem would sort itself out. It has. Thanks for the update.

I'll have a chat with them.

Some people think I'm an idiot. I disagree, but idiocy is subjective--so they may well be right. With this in mind, take everything I post with a grain of salt, eh?

It's fixed and hasn't gone back down since I first posted. If your problems continue you need to start troubleshooting as per normal.

Looks like I spoke too soon.

If you're waiting for inbound email there's a little bit of a queue in delivery as a result of this morning's event. It's clearing up now.

Great, thanks for the updates. I was able to pass this information onto a few clients that were having issues.
