Help - eBay pass change problem...

Click for full size
Hi, all of a sudden I find that my pass no longer works

I try to recover it - but can't I'm stuck... due to an outdated phone number...

I wrote to eBay but to no avail:

quote:
I can not change / recover my password

it's a big problem - as I can not use my account

when I try to change it using "I forgot" I get to the screen where I enter the new pass twice and then I get:

quote:
"The following must be corrected before continuing:"
(see attached)

without any explanation - it's like an error at your end.

if I try to use the other method - updating via my cell # - my phone changed - so to send the 4 digit pin I must answer the secret question - and every time I try to do it I get:

quote:
"Secret question: Please enter the correct answer."
I enter it correctly, it was 3+ years ago...

so I am stuck!

please help...
what do you think?

is there any other way? what can I do?

Last time I couldn't log-in to my eBay account, back in 2003, it had been hacked and hijacked...

Yes, as wenter99 mentioned (and if you're sure you are entering the correct password), it's possible your account was hijacked.
It happened to a friend of mine. (And is apparently pretty common).

It was pretty easily resolved by using "Live Chat".
They asked if he was available at the registered phone number (or if not, where he could be reached), and a rep called him right away on the phone.

Turns out, there was even stuff already listed for sale by the hijacker.
The rep ended all the bogus listings, and helped him to reset the password.

Live Chat is definitely the way to go rather than trying to email them. (I've found that emailing them for pretty much anything is fairly useless, and you'll usually get some sort of unhelpful canned response).

(Edit) Hmmm...I'm trying to find the "Live Chat" link which was once right on the main page.
I saw where it's still available somewhere, so you'll have to look around a little to find it under the Help/Contact us options.

(Edit #2) Ok, I think if you click on the "Contact us" link (upper right of main page), then "I'm a guest" (since you can't log-in), then "tell us about your issue", then, select: "I think someone used my account", you'll finally get the chat option on the right side of the page.

Sheesh...what a pain! Like I said, it was once right on the main eBay page.

Anyway, try Live Chat for sure...I think you'll have better luck.
