Oppo BDP-83 Blu-Ray Palyer Update

Well, I finally got my system calibrated with the DVE Blu-Ray disc, and I'm watching "Firefly" on it right now.
It looks stunning, and I would not hesitate to recommend this player to anyone.

Firefly....I bought the 3-disc set. I also bought "Serenity", but it hasn't arrived yet.

Ah, ok.
I have Serenity. Looks pretty good, not quite reference, but it is great!

To what? This is Oppo's first Blu-Ray player, so it's completely new.

That's probably when they announced it.

Although, they did just release a firmware update (beta) a few days ago.

I'll have to check that out. The player is network-enabled for the "BD Live" stuff, and also for automatic firmware updates. It's plugged into my router, so I'll have to see if anything has changed.

I think you can only download full release firmware updates through the network. For beta updates you have to burn them to disc or install them from a USB memory stick.
