Re: Wireless connection dead need help

Well it's working. I'm at a loss as to what exactly fixed it. I didn't do anything today that I didn't already try yesterday except change from WPA to WPA2 encryption.

On one more side note since I'm speaking to somebody so well informed can you explain what SSID broadcasting is? From what I understand this being enabled is what allows the network to show in the list when someone scans the area for wireless networks. I've looked into it and everywhere I've looked says to disable SSID broadcasting to have a more secure wireless network but every time I disable it it kills my wireless connection. So I'm forced to leave it enabled. Is this correct or am I misinformed yet again?

Thank you for your time, patience and information thus far!

There's a bit of jargon in there, so if you need clarification feel free to ask.

To add to the comments by No_Strings as long as you use strong encryption and a long random key your safe. Hiding the SSID, as noted in the FAQ, is just smoke and mirrors and quite simply can cause connectivity issues like you had. Hre is another reference for your reading pleasure.

Glad to hear its working...
