| [AB] Shaw routing to Seattle through San Francisco?
At an earlier point in time Shaw used to route to this Seattle based game server (for Quake Live) without first going through San Francisco.
I have no insight into why this changed, but the impact this has had on game latency is negative (roughly doubled from 30-40 range to 60-80 range). I'm hoping someone from Shaw might be able to look into this?
Here's the tracert I am seeing:

| reply to ping2x As the crow flies might not be the fastest way to wherever on the internet as it depends on backbones, load etc and of course who you have deals with. Sometimes I'm surprised at just how unconnected Canada really is as its a great big place with really only a few pockets of population.

Tier 2/NOC agents watch these forums, which is better than calling the Tier 1 line and getting the "everything is fine on our end" answer.

Well, in theory anyway... |

@shawcable.net | reply to ping2x Their IP backbone group is responsible for routing; good luck contacting someone in that team to help with your gaming issue... |

1 edit | reply to ping2x Looks good from BC. You can probably ignore the ping spikes because I'm working with a weak wireless signal here.
