Re: mi424-wr issue- wireless connection breaks for some minutes

If you have a wired connection and it works when the wireless connection doesn't, I would make sure no one else (neighbors, etc) is on the same channel you are using, ensure you have no wireless phones, security systems or other wireless appliances using the same band.

Then shut off the Ationtek wireless A/P system and get a good one like Linksys. My experiences with the Actionteks has been that they are drek. Remember, the Actiontek router still has to be in place in the chain if you get FiOS TV.

1. I can still ping, so I don't think it is signal issue.
2. Distance between modem and laptop - 2-3 meters
3. Laptop reports that signal is excellent.

Sounds like a wireless signal issue.

The Actiontec Rev. E had not had the reports of poor wireless connectivity that earlier Actiontec models had, although it is relatively new.

Check out the following wireless troubleshooting FAQs here:

Sorry for didn't describe my problem in details.

I use only skype, browsing and sometimes downloading.
If I connect yellow cable during break connection will be restored. Also I noticed that during break I can't use skype, but can ping successfully any site (not only 192.168.1.1)

Depending on what you're doing (torrenting? gaming?) you may not have a wireless issue as much as a "NAT" issue... Can you connect a laptop directly to the router via cat5/ethernet and see if you still have problems?

@verizon.net

Hello,
Some weeks ago I was connected to Verizon fios. I have two notebooks - Dell e4300 and Dell d420. From the first day of using internet I noticed that something wrong with communication between mi424-wr rev.e and dell e4300 - connection breaks for some minutes. During break I can't open any site even 192.168.1.1 (modem ip), but can ping 192.168.1.1 successfully. During this weeks I used two different dell e4300 and issue is reproducible on both. I don't have any problems with dell d420.

*** Please suggest what to do to find cause. ***

I enabled security log in firewall section, and noticed some "blocked" records, not sure if it is related to breaks or not, because I see such records during normal connection and during breaks.
