1 edit | [Connectivity] would this be viable in the DOCSIS standard?
something ive wondered about even though it doesnt effect me(i use a router), would be could modem makers put a button on the modem that in place of standby a quick push clears its current CPE MAC info allowing device swapping without modem power cycle and resync.
main thought here is the EMTA, since a reset causes temp dialtone loss this would be a great thing not having to reset the phone too.
this is just a basic tech question as i know some people here really know the internals of the modems. |

| there are two types of resets with the EMTA, a MTA reset which resets the phone modem portion of the EMTA, or a full reset which resets both the HSD and the MTA, you cant reset the HSD portion without resetting the phone side, but you can reset the phone side without resetting the HSD side. Sounds kinda dumb, but hope that answers your question. |
