you will not get any digital cable channels without a cable card equipped pc. if you just want the unencrypted digital channels a qam tuner should work.

I think I want what you said in the end.

I want to watch TV on my monitor using cox regular TV service whatever it is called from the wall outlet.
This is what I do in my bedroom Digital TV set without a box.

SO are you saying yes it will work as long as I get a QAM tuner.

I was planning to buy the following HD TV Tuner card for my computer.
Hauppauge
HVR-1250
PCI-Express

I plan on watching the basic channels straight out of the wall with no cable box.
Anyone else doing this on their computer?
