IPCONFIG has many domain with 127.0.0.1 Why???

Does any one know why I have so many of them when displaydns?

Is it normal? even after flushdns and displaydns followed. Thanks.

It is the loopback address (your computer) -totally normal.

Do you run a Hosts file to block ads?

Yes, used SpyBod and spywareBlaster. Could that be the reason?

Yes, ads from sites listed in the host file are redirected to 127.0.0.1, your localhost, so those sites are not displayed.

Thank you. That's explain it. But would that fill up your dns buffer?

Yes, and if you use a large hosts file as a security blocking tool rather than its intended purpose as an auxiliary DNS provider, you may want to disable local DNS caching.

Editors Note: in most cases a large HOSTS file (over 135 kb) tends to slow down the ma chine.
This only occurs in W2000/XP/Vista. Windows 98 and ME are not affected.

To resolve this issue (manually) open the "Services Editor"

* Start | Run (type) "services.msc" (no quotes)
* Scroll down to "DNS Client", Right-click and select: Properties
* Click the drop-down arrow for "Startup type"
* Select: Manual, or Disabled (recommended) click Apply/Ok and restart.

Scroll to bottom of page, there's a link to the Web Master, send a query email.

Hope this helps.

What (software) firewall/anti-virus are you running?
(They may be running through a proxy, using localhost.)
