| 2wire 2701 HG-d Wireless problems
I am connected via Qwest using a 2wire 2701 HG-D modem/wireless router.
When I plug in directly to the router I get a flawless connection. When I try to use the wireless both of my computers connect just fine and show active internet conections, but there is something wrong with the connection.
Ping tests usually come back with 3 out of 4, and I can't get a single page to open.
I have changed the security settings several times and I have enabled firewall UDP. I have also tried using only wireless B with no luck.
Any help would be great. |

| What power level and channel are you using? Try power 10 and channel 10 (or 2). Avoid channels 1 and 11 because the 2wire products tend to revert back to 40% power levels when using these channels.
Where is your 2701 located? Is it near a subwoofer or other source of electromagnetic energy? How many walls are between the modem and the wireless devices connecting to it? Is it in a Faraday cage? Is there a tesla coil nearby? Had any thermonuclear explosions recently?
Some of that is obviously a bit of sarcasm, but you get the drift. Evaluate your placement of the radio transmitters, line of sight is best. Eliminate possible sources of interference. Ensure you are taking full advantage of your equipment's capabilities. -- Assiduus usus uni rei deditus et ingenium et artem saepe vincit |

| reply to alpal I tried what you said, but it did not work. The problem is not connecting to the router, it shows full signal and connects without any problem. I thought the problem might be with the DNS, so i tried an alternative server, but that did not help. I think that I am getting an internet connection, but it is so incredibly slow that it cannot function. Also the logs show 29 wireless errors. |
