Thanks very much for the instructions. I am going to try this out today.
One question: I have FIOS Internet only (no set-top box for TV). Your instructions include the FIOS router but seemingly only for fetching data for the TV set-top box.
So, if I don't have a set-top box and only use FIOS for internet - can I remove the FIOS Westell unit entirely? I don't want to use the Westell unit if I don't have too. I have a nice Linksys router with much faster wireless that I would like to use exclusively.
Can this be done using your instructions above but without using the Westell unit?
Let me know. Thanks! Scott |

If you can get your Linksys connected by cat5 ethernet to the ONT, you have no need for the Westell router. See the FAQs starting with »Verizon Online FiOS FAQ »Replacing the Actiontec (part 1): Coax to Ethernet
Substitute Westell wherever it says Actiontec.
After you're all done and your Westell is temporarily surplus, IM me. I'm looking for one of those puppies. For testing purposes. |
