How much more will Bell abuse their customers

»Bell Landline to go up by $2, will this apply to TSI as well

Interesting thread in the TekSavvy Forum ...

Putting rates up is nothing particularly new or newsbreaking, but the reported change in terms is nothing short of abuse.

What on earth was the government doing in allowing deregulation?

At the rate Bell is going, they'll start charging us monthly fees just to have pairs brought to our houses, connected or not!

They're almost daily inventing new ways to abuse their customers instead of finding positive ways to keep customers, they're simply using sticks to beat us if we opt to change.

For short, This occurrence will apply to me too, because I am a bell user?? Damn this money digger, just switched back from rogers to bell to save a few bucks, and now I must pay for this cra....This is just ridiculous. Canadian government, I loss faith in them all. With this abusive monopoly, we as a consumer will suffer more and more. When will these government stand up for the Canadian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bell needs an R&D back in Canada (maybe they should have boiught back Nortel -still wonder why they didn't lately) to innovate technology instead of beating us with management happy sticks.

Its sad that a bunch of Canadian "TEACHERS" after they got "suckered" into this deal can't understand that Bell and the Cdn gov't basically didn't even use vaseline on them -which must have hurt a lot?

Elton John sang it years ago ".....Oh Teacher I need ya'll..."

just press delete.

cheers.

"How much more will Bell abuse their customers", you say?

heh.

There is lots of room for more abuse.

Competition bureau does nothing.

CRTC does nothing.

Funders, such as the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Quebec Chamber of Commerce are behind them trying to keep IP all locked to only Bell.

Bell's new filing that if you have line (phone and/or Inet) problems and a tech can't find and/or fix it within 2-weeks, you are on the hook for a bill or it's closed off (in other words you will pay to train their lousy tech's and lousy support).

If I had to guess, without going into a whole essay of who what and why, I'd say the answer to your question is lots, lots more.

Now all the suckers they reeled in with promo's of 9.99* land-line and whatever else will be kicking themselves. Contracts are a bitch, will cost lots to cancel if you don't agree to the increase.

Lock in as many as possible as fast as possible, then raise rates. Any promo you see that runs, rates increase about 6-8 months later. It's a recurring theme.

2$ increase in modem fee's. 2$ increase in land-line, 2$ here and there.

Whole lot more I'd say.

I predict that soon (within a year) anyone with a land-line will have to fund Bell with an additional "tax" (like the new UK broadband initiative).

Have you thought about complaining to anyone (for what it's worth)? There are a few consumer associations in Ontario to at least push for better consumer laws.

$9.99 (sucker promo rate) to $11.99 is a 120% increase.

Yup, makes me wonder how many suckers bit into their promo with recurring theme of over 100% increases.

HEH. Maybe we should look at it like a car lease, like Deadpool said the other day.

You know how those car leases can go up 120% at any time and how if your engine leaks and stalls the first 3 months of your lease they will only give you 2 weeks for them to find and repair it or you're out of luck and stuck with it as is.

Your math isn't too good.

9.99 to 11.99 is a 20% increase. Yes, it's 120% of what it was, but that's still a 20% increase.

it would have to go to 21.98 to be a 120% increase!

You are correct.

I promise not to to 9.99 * X = 11.99 again after I had a beer

ummm...for one, it was the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan fund that was the significant stake holder in the buyout...and secondly, the deal fell through at the 11th hour as the final audit done by KPMG stated Bell didn't meet the solvency requirements as mandated by the offer.

you can only be fed bullshit and propaganda for so long...many years ago, everything was great...then the company started doing stupid things, bad decisions, not fixing things that needed fixing, implemented stupid policies, treated their staff like crap, got rid of those who knew their stuff in favour of those who made shit up just to close a sale (and figured they would rather get the sale, and deal with any repercussions after) and they would create so many customer issues, it became so frustrating to work for them...it used to be fun going to work for them every day...in the end, it made me sick working for them...i sold all my friends and family Bell services and they loved them...then, over the years, the level of service went down the toilet, and they couldn't get things fixed in a reasonable time frame...when i left a couple of years ago, all but 3 still had Bell...i tried to help many of them get things fixed, but i think they were just to frustrated, and didn't want to keep bothering me, every month, when things weren't fixed...i couldn't blame them for leaving, i myself had numerous issues and was having the same challenges getting the issues resolved - and i worked for them...when we went out for social events, i used to be proud to say i worked for Bell...in the end, i lied, and said i was on welfare and sold crack on the side - i got more respect that way.

More likely a flat charge based on birthrates, and immigration statistics.
I agree it is abusive, it's like they mated Ernestine the Operator with the Borg and birthed an even more relentless totalitarian money-grabbing offspring.

That disclaimer would get laughed out of a court if anyone felt like taking it on for basic services like Telephone!

All this talk of $2 increases, reminds me of some politician who was known by the percentage he asked for in every deal.

At the rate at which Bell is going they will be called the $2 Company. This is truly getting out of hand.
