| Uncanceled Echo high from 11 to 3 or 4pm. DSL disconnects
Hello. For the last 2 or 3 weeks now from about 11am to 3 or 4 pm my modem constantly retrains/looses dsl. I think it may be a outside heat related issue since when it rains or is overcast (like right now) it doesn't seem to have a problem. The inside temp doesn't seem to have any bearing. When I am having problems the Uncanceled Echo is very high (45+ dB), when it's working well the echo is -2.x. I have run a short 3' cord from the NSI to my modem (nothing else connected) and have swapped out my 2700 to 2701 to another 2701. All behave the same. Tech support says I don't have a bridge tap on the line (I don't have a landline, I'm using VOIP). I'm trying to get a tech out here from 11-3 but so far qwest hasn't been very helpfull. Any suggestions? |

| Thanks for the reply. In answer to your questions the temperatures are high 80's low 90's, qwest did send a tech but he came at 9am before any trouble started. I did indeed isolate the line, it only has one 3' phone cable and the modem, nothing else is hooked up. As far as the bridge tap the tech assured me it was not possible, her explanation was because I didn't have a landline (all though I did previously have one, dropped it about 9 months ago). |

| reply to waveman Tech should have some sort of TDR to check for bridgetaps if a DSL tech and Qwest still has any money for equipment. Though a bridgetap should be consistently bad no matter the time of day.
Now temperatures 80 to 90 is not really hot like Phoenix 110 plus. Still a scotch lock could be opening due to thermal temps is line was repaired in the past. Now many years ago there was a bad batch of protectors that went bad with high heat. Those should be all bad by now but never know. Any sprinkler systems coming on midday? Any thing happening around that time? |

| reply to waveman Hello there, my name is Brian and I work for Qwest. I ran across your post here, and am curious if I can help you with the connection issue you seem to be having. If you would like more help with it, I can have one of our DSL tech support specialists look into it.
Just send me an e-mail at TalkToUs@Qwest.com, and put my name in the subject line.
thanks,

| reply to waveman Hi Brian. I have also saved about 26 html files of the modem showing the high uncanceled echo db's, retrains etc. If you would like I can email you these as well. A tech did come out but he came out much earlier than 11 and said nothing was wrong. He also charged me $112 extra (Charge for Repair Visit When No Trouble is Found in Telco Equipment ), even though I was very clear with the young lady from tech support that the problem happens from 11-3 and the tech would need to be there during that time to troubleshoot the problem. I hope I am able to solve the issue and adjust the bill, because I have been with Qwest for years but I am finding this a very troubling situation. |

| reply to waveman I have a tech scheduled to come out Mon July 20th from 11am to 3pm (and this is verified by an appointment reminder email I was sent), but I am worried he will come sooner or later and charge me another $112 |
