| Verizon/D-Link Modem problem
I'm sure this is in the wrong section, but I couldn't figure out what an appropriate section would be.
I recently ordered Verizon DSL. Today was the activation day. I did not get one of their expensive/shabby modems, but instead a D-Link 2640B modem/wireless router, and naturally it isn't working and Verizon won't help.
I get a solid DSL light on the modem, but cannot seem to configure it correctly to work.
When I run Verizon's CD, it gets stuck communicating with the router, most likely because I didn't buy the router from them.
Any help would be appreciated if someone has been down this path before, or has any ideas.
Thank you |

| reply to Fabu It sounds like you're trying to configure the service while plugged into the router. Take a PC and plug the PC directly into the modem. Once the service is set up (and it should work, as DSL is green which is what you want) and all good to go and the modem's Internet light is green (it should turn green), you can set up your router either through it's CD, or the way I suggest doing it, via it's web interface. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |

I see what you're saying, but I only have one piece of hardware, the D-Link Modem and Wireless router. One piece. I opted to get that (better hardware/cheaper price) than one of the modems that Verizon offered (inferrior hardware/higher price) but didn't anticipate Verizon being so difficult to work with. |

1 edit | Access the D-Link set it to PPPoE supply the username and password use VCI/VPI settings of 0 and 35 if the D-Link doesn't auto discover them. edit don't use the VZ CD at all -- reboot, reset, reconfigure, then recycle. |

Don't take such offense to it, people are here to help, but don't want to waste their time (and yours) chasing possible incorrect info. |
