Will Verizon ever upgrade there network in Baltimore? |Rant|

I Originally wrote this to Verizon but when I started writing, it took on a life of its own. But this is not the same version I sent them, I edited allot of it to make it fit with the site and I pulled back on some of the things I said to them lol.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ok I am not trying to rant but I have been following Verizon's deployment of fios every since it first started & well, every since then I have been waiting to see any news about the service coming in to the metro area, especially considering we are surrounded by fios in our county’s. I am not sure what’s going on with the development efforts in our area anymore but I can tell you one thing, I'm sure getting tired of seeing those stupid ads for a service I can't receive. May be if you would spend as much on deployment as you do your add campaign we would have fios. I would think it would be a no brainier that it would be a good idea for Verizon to deploy their fios service to the Baltimore city area since well we are a major city and that equates to a dense population which equates to more customers per square Mile which equates to better chances of revenue streams. Let’s not also forget it would be better for material use’s considering in our county's your next door neighbor lives 1/4 of a mile away so odds are you would have a higher revenue per foot of fiber in the city then the in the county, but what does that mean to Verizon, nothing Verizon continues to stall the deployment of Fios to area's that are in need of a network upgrades. One major excuse of theirs and reason they can’t install fios everywhere at once is that they can’t do it because of the work load; they must do it one area at a time. Well Verizon has employees in every state they serve, so why can’t they? Now I could see if they had to ship all the works from another state to help with the installation but they don’t do that so it must not be that hard. So why can’t there employees of each state start doing the upgrades in the communities they serve? The real reason is because then they could not cherry pick areas to install in. They should have their offices and employees rolling out fiber nationwide.

So as you can see I have a hard time trying to grasp what the situation is between Verizon & my home town of Baltimore. The main answer that pops in my head ever time is they are cherry picking areas to install in. If they are not like they like to claim, then I'm having a hard time trying to figure out the reason behind why Verizon has yet to make any effort to start installing the new service’s here, well besides in the upscale apartment complexes that have a binding legal contract so they are practically guaranteed customers since its they’re only choice its easy to install fios to city to those places. So if they can do that in the city why can’t the same people that ran the fiber to those buildings be working on upgrading our city & what does Verizon have all their workers here in the city doing anyways? Could they possibly be maintaining the crappie network when they could be upgrading it? So let’s see here in Baltimore City the average income is sixty thousand a year & average house price is $150,000 - $200,000. So I would think most in our city could easily afford the service, and the city would be pretty profitable. I mean just ask Comcast, ever since they purchased TCI they have been continuously upgraded their network here & even in my neighborhood "Hampden" & few other community’s that share the same grid have been the testing grounds for many of their new services before going nationwide, like new speed upgrades. So I doubt that Comcast would be investing money in the city, if they are not making profit. Hell they should be killing the computation here considering Verizon’s blazing top speed is 3 Mbps / 768 Kbps Comcast’s top is at 50 Mbps but most users like myself enjoy sitting at 12 Mbps / 2 Mbps and hell most of the time my connection fly’s over that mark and hell I don’t know what I would do without power boost. The only people who would be actually be stupid enough to pick Verizon’s DSL over Comcast either knows nothing about the internet or they are just complete idiots. Naa just joking about the last part / But the only thing most people would be sticking with Verizon is for the lowest tier which is priced better then Comcast’s 1mb economy. Just because of that I wish Comcast do some people a favor and how about not copying the speed of Verizon’s low end dsl and increase the speed to more on the lines of 3 Mbps / 768 kbps or hell even better would to make it 4 Mbps that why there would be literally no reason to turn to DSL.

So in the end my only conclusion could be that Verizon is ether against competition or they are just out right afraid of it. The main reason I want fios is because it would create competition against Comcast and hopefully it would drive prices down & increase speeds even farther and plus it would give us BBR people something to argue over haha. Back in the day’s we used to have that competition with Verizon's DSL service, but considering the time that has pass Comcast's system here is almost entirely built out in fiber optics now & the DSL - Cable war of the past has turned in to more of a lop sided A** kicking. But to give everyone a example again of what’s going on, Comcast's main starting speeds here is 12mbps Up & 1 Mbps Down and you can also upgrade to 16mbps & now 50 Mbps with the new modems. Now for Verizon’s DSL the speeds are 1mb up & you can upgrade all the way to 3 Mbps up and let’s not even mention the down speeds. I mean wtf, when do you think Verizon should start upgrading their crappy network, hell more importantly when do they plan to upgrade our city's network here in Baltimore? is there a time frame, for sake of god please tell me?! Because if not Verizon’s resources (Employees) here in Baltimore city must be crack addicts or they must be actually fearful of head to head competition in a market where Comcast has both the technology & assets compete with Verizon. Oh and hey before the trolls and fan-boys start, No I am not a greedy person and I know it takes time it big overhaul but it does not take as long as there moving but, I will not argue that & yes I am happy to have at least one choice because that don’t even have one choice for broadband let alone to. But what I am saying is that Verizon's network is in need of being upgraded here in Baltimore, considering it’s no longer able to compete anymore against Comcast’s speed what the hell is the holdup, not to mention Comcast takes a phone customer away from Verizon daily I would think it would be good time to start busting ass.

I mean come on I think its time to upgrade your network when can no longer keep up with your competitor, either that or sell it off to someone who will upgrade/invest in the network so we can have another choice of a quality service like we did have years ago when the DSL was a viable technology. Hell in a few more years Wireless Services will end up replacing DSL anyways {IMO}.

So how about upgrading your network, finally do some work I am tired of seeing all your fans sitting on the side of the road doing nothing when they should be. At least stop running those dam ads here about how much better you are then cable when most of audience can’t even get the dam service. Also your network is nothing but pure crap so stop saying that fiber optics crap when all the viewers seeing those stupid commercials are connect to your crap ass copper phone system.

Anyways if you made it this far, thanks for reading my rant I am tired so I’m going to sleep, I tried to avoid typo errors but there may have been some I missed so please excuse that if there is any!
