| Build Me a PC Please
It has been since Vapochill I and the first barton came out that i was really into gaming. Well now I am a single guy with a steady check and I am looking for the person I was 8 years ago to help me.
Can someone build me a PC under 4k all from newegg with no monitor and low HD space. It needs to be able to match my 62 inch LCD TV, i look forward to play mostly FF13 after I beat it on my PS3. The goal is really to have a low hd low mem but both of them the best speeds possible with maximum graphic power and physics control not to be limited. -- What what what would you do? |

| You don't even need to spend 1500 to get a system that will play every game available with maximum settings and max AA/AF.
Use search. There are a -ton- of threads asking for stuff like this, and it gets somewhat frustrating basically repeating the same info over and over again. -- THIS IS SPENCER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - I HAVE JOE. RETURNING TO BASE. |

| reply to Thrawn2 So I got bored at work and threw something together. You can find it here.
I went ahead and did a pair of ATI 5870 in Crossfire, 160GB SSD as you asked for small but fast, 6GB of RAM. It's a pretty standard powerhouse build, at the very least it's something to start with and adjust as wanted. -- DFI UT X58-T3eH8, 6GB GeIL PC3-10666, PC P&C 610, EVGA GTX280 SC, Core i7 920 @ 166 x 20, Noctua NH-U12P in Push-Pull, Mountain Mods H2GO |

| reply to DadeMurphy You don't need 5870's in Crossfire. A single 5870 will play everything on the market at 1080p resolution with max settings anyways. I wouldn't waste the money on another when it won't be helping at all.
Just because you have 4 grand to spend on a computer doesn't mean you need to spend 4 grand. As stated, you can build a system for 1500 that performs pretty much just as well in every game. -- THIS IS SPENCER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - I HAVE JOE. RETURNING TO BASE. |

| reply to Mchart I guess really it depends on his LCD, I personally like running with Vsync on for maximum quality and if he has one of the 120hz or 240hz screens it will take more than a single 5870 to put out a truly synced image.
I do agree that you can get close performance for less, but he asked for a real powerhouse and this will perform better than anything you can put together for $1500. You can save a ton by not using SSD, but you give up the near instantaneous "seek time", you can go with a single 5870 and that may be fine but it really depends on what sort of frame rates you are looking for. Plus this build still only comes out a touch over $3k. If the OP is willing to pay top dollar for a powerhouse of a desktop that is their prerogative. -- DFI UT X58-T3eH8, 6GB GeIL PC3-10666, PC P&C 610, EVGA GTX280 SC, Core i7 920 @ 166 x 20, Noctua NH-U12P in Push-Pull, Mountain Mods H2GO |

Actually, the beauty of a 120Hz or 240Hz TV is that it can sync with any level that is divisible by those numbers, so if he locks it at 12,24,30,60... so on, it will all "sync".
I would go with Dade Murphy's build with a few changes.
Drop the sound card, the integrated ones are fine for anything these days, especially gaming. Drop the 2nd 5870 unless you plan to run dual 62" displays at full HD. What I would IMPROVE upon though is double the RAM, get 12GB instead of 6, hell, maybe even get 24GB, can never have too much RAM. Also get as many of those Intel SSD's as you can in RAID. They increase in speed based on how many are in a RAID, ALMOST a perfect ratio of drive to performance (ex if you put two in, your speed is going to double).
And of course, be sure to put Windows 7 on it -- Ever wonder about the stars? |

OP, why do you want low memory and low HD space? -- "One can lead a child to knowledge, but one cannot make him think."

| reply to Thrawn2 He did say Small HD space. I believe this harkens back to the Barton days when the new "big" drives used more platters and therefore were slower and the smaller drives generally had the faster cache and were faster. But with SSD's in RAID, there is no problem with it.
Low Mem? That one is beyond me. -- Ever wonder about the stars? |

| Are you trying to make a joke? No offense, but reccomending Quad or Tri SLI/Crossfire is basically telling the person to waste their money. You will not see ANY tangible gains using Tri/Quad SLI - Other then wasting a crapload of money. -- THIS IS SPENCER. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - I HAVE JOE. RETURNING TO BASE. |

ok
The goal is really to have a low hd low mem
low memory? again why
best speeds possible

So, i7 975 (extreme edition)
maximum graphic power and physics control not to be limited.
ok . . . 1 BFG 295 @ $500
SLI capable motherboard . . .
After I throw everything together, you're at about $2600.
Some people prefer to get cheaper 275's with less memory and buy 2 . . . or you can get a single 295 with a buttload |

By the way...FF13 has not been released yet and FF14 is the MMO that will come out probably Q4 2010 that you're talking about. |
