Something like Apple just announcing a 'OS X for PC' with an unknown release could crimp some early Win7 sales too. It's a stretch but I've always figured it was a possibility with just some added support cost due to hardware variances. There's also some low rumbles about some big *nix desktop environments getting some hardware vendor love but so far I think it's just small portable or touchscreen devices and not general consumer products. -- Say no to JAMS! |

| IMO Vista got hosed by MS and some hardware vendors. The users that got burned blamed Vista. I like Vista and never had a problem with it. I built my PC with vista certified parts. Funny thing is, the box that has ubuntu on it, I tried installing win7. First time it failed to install the wireless mouse/keyboard. Second time nothing but BSOD during install.
Ubuntu never gave me any install problems at all. Heck, before I upgraded my built PC, I had a dual boot PC. Visita and Ubuntu. I upgrade the processor and video card. Vista crapped out. The install disk couldn'r repair ir because the installed version had been updated to many times. Meanwhile Ubuntu booted and ran with no trouble.
The only way I'll stay with windows is if a machine I buy has it. Other wise, it's ubuntu for me. -- A is A. |

I've got several friends that run hackintosh systems. The guy in the next cube from me has a 17" laptop with 8GB of memory in it that he put together for under $900 (assembled via eBay) - and it runs Snow Leopard. -- The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt. -- Bertrand Russell |

| reply to nixen "Windows 7 is Microsoft's one and maybe only chance to redeem itself. "We have learned a lot from what went wrong with Vista," is a mantra repeated by every Microsoft executive."
Then why are they asking consumers to foot the bill? This is a recall, NOT an upgrade. LOL |
