Port Forwarding Stopped Working.

just realized that when i set DMZ. all UDP is open. but all TCP is closed.

i resetted router 8 times and all 8 times only UDP was open

If you reset the router, that is, you press the little button with a paper clip or select the Advanced item to Restore Defaults, you have to set your Port Forwards (and everything else) again.

If, however, you turn the router off then turn it back on, you haven't changed your config at all. It will be the same as you had it before.

It never hurts to reset to defaults then build the config again. Some things get cleaned up from before. Sort of like fresh install of an OS. It's remarkable how old stuff can get cleaned up that way.

All it takes is time.

yes i rested by holding the button down for 30 sec with pen

and ofc i did the port forwarding again.

however, what i am trying to say is that it doesnt work anymore.

and i asked someone who portforwarded his router(same model)

and he cant figure out why mine wont portforward

I seem to recall another post in the last month or two where port forwarding stopped working. I did a quick search for the post, but did not find the one I was looking for.

IIRC, VZ sent a replacement router.

i already had them send a diff router. they sent me a used one

and this one have exactly the same problem.

could it be coincidence that this one has same problem?

Ok, getting ready to dig into this.

Describe your network, what's connected to LAN, what is in the DMZ, and what application needs the port forward.

Finally, please post a screenshot of your portforward status page.

my wireless laptop and wired desktop is connected currently.

and DMZ is set to 192.168.1.4(which is the static IP of my wireless laptop)

and i am trying to port forward uTorrent.

as i said before only UDP is open and TCP is closed.

Why do you have a port forward from your public IP address to your laptop?
This is not needed and should NOT be used unless you have a VZ assigned static IP address. Your DHCP address can change unexpectedly.

When you specify the laptop's IP address on the DMZ screen, all packets not otherwise redirected will be sent to the laptop. No port forwarding is necessary to the DMZ machine.

just realized the public ip is still there. dam it.

i asked someone to help me and he put it there.

but that one was put AFTER proper port forwarding didnt work (which you see in the picture)

so ignore that public ip thing plz

and for DMZ. i put that up AFTER i found out portforwarding didnt work.

tried that and no luck.

let me just reset the thing and try again tomorrow. kinda busy today.

Also, check to make sure your PC firewall isn't contributing to the problem.

i has similar problems where my actiontec was messing up ip distribution and port forwarding rules...they sent a new one and seems to be working again

ok that did not work after resetting the router.

can i ask you what is so diff in what you did?

all that guide did differently was to open TCP only

which didnt do anything.

i hear bridging router can solve this?
i have one wireless router hanging around anyway.

first of all let me say ty for helping

1. i have windows firewall(and i turned it off) so no firewall

2. i know its not port forwarded cause i clicked utorrent "port test"
which directs me to website for testing port

and i also use "port forward" port test program.
(however, it shows as green as open but i know thats not true because it takes so long to upload now)

and i tried numerous ports but none work.

3. ive tried that no luck

4. it had check in first box and no check in second box.

but i changed to check in first and second

as i said i asked other people to config ports forwarding for me.
they have same router and their routers are port forwarded.
still they cant find out wut is wrong with my router.

what is this pc remote access thing you told me about?

What's the status of UPnP in the router? Disable it.

Go to Advanced / Universal Plug and Play, then uncheck "Allow Other Network Users to Control Wireless Broadband Router's Network Features".

Checking to make sure I read you correctly: uTorrent network status shows green but uTorrent's website-based port test fails, and PortForward's port test program also fails? You've changed ports but that doesn't work?

I'm not sure what your comment on checkmark boxes signify. Settings in uTorrent?

PC remote access basically lets someone else use their keyboard, mouse and screen to control your PC. It's the same as if they were sitting there at your desk. If you have Windows running, it may already be enabled. Other non-Microsoft programs like it require a port forward on your router. It may be possible for someone to look at your PC to try to find the source of the problem. Liability issues abound with unknown third-parties across the internet, so you really want to use local resources.
