SO far I love it, i have it on the 360 though. Its very fun and the different styles of guns and the 4 class's are cool and feel different too. I recommend it if you like any kind of rpg style of gaming and FPS. |

I got it the day pre-order was available on Steam. I've been watching this game for a long time now. I just confirmed via remote desktop that my copy is unlocked and ready to play. Just need the damnable work day to end. |

I bought it for the 360 as well, LOVE this game. This is what Hellgate should've been like.
It's a great first person shooter with perfect RPG additions. I just finished normal mode with my friends, and we are going through play-through number 2 ( similar to nightmare mode for d2 ). And it's tough with a full game.
The classes are pretty unique too, with the talent trees and all. I really didn't think I would like the cell shaded, but they pulled it off really well.
The only thing that concerned me is the characters stored on the PC rather than their servers. So the computer version will probably have alot of hacks and what not.

I'm definatly enjoying it now that it's out on Steam.
Only have a few gripes.
A.) The GUI interaction sucks on PC
B.) No threshold setting for the voice chat? Really?!
C.) The 'storyline' is so piece-meal and chaotic that I can't even follow whats going on.
Other then that, loads of fun. Even better was that I got gifted a copy for free.

Enjoyed this quite a bit on the PC today.
If you are having MP issues, might try opening the ports needed.
You'll need the following ports forwarded/open on your firewall
7777 (TCP/UDP)
28900 (TCP)
27900 (UDP)
28910 (TCP)
28902 (TCP/UDP)
You won't be able to properly join/host games without setting these. Also, you will need a GameSpy account. |

Pikced this up have about 4 hours of play time in so far. Got to level 11, and liking it for the most part. Finding different guns that fit your play style is alot of fun, however alot of the enemies right now seem repetative, looking forward to seeing new baddies. |

I've got about 5 hours in, up to lvl 19. Really fun so far, but a few huge bitch points:
1) you can't toggle voice chat, adjust volume, or modify it at all
2) you need to change your router ports to host a game
3) apparently matchmaking is brutally laggy (I played with friends and didn't try this)
4) I don't believe there is any way to boot someone or mute someone
5) The UI is clearly a console port, and the menus are not mouse friendly
That aside, it's fun, co-op works well, and I will definitely play through this at least twice. The ability to respec is a huge bonus also. |

2 edits | You can disable voice manually by making a quick and easy change to one of the config files.
Navigate to My Documents --> My Games --> Borderlands --> WillowGame --> Config.
Open WillowEngine.cfg.
Find [VOIP] (about 4/5th of the way down)
Change bHasVoiceEnabled=true to false
This will disable the in-game voice altogether and you can use a 3rd party program of your choice. |

For me i had to go to program files\steam\steamapps\common\borderlands\engine\config\base_engine.ini I believe to change the values to disable ingame VOIP. If you to the gearbox forums there are a good number of threads with some nifty tweaks. Issues aside, I find it pretty entertaining. The issues with MP is from what i've seen is in regards to opening the public game list the game will freeze, however it doesn't seem to do that when hosting a private game.
Hopefully they address this issue soon. Was kinda hoping they would've done the MP through someone other than Gamespy....ugh |

Update - I'm up to level 17 and it's really starting to get alot more fun and feel alot like an FPS. I'm currently going to fight Skag (sp?) and this area finally feels like I've got some baddies to knock out and some of them are actually a challenge. Looking an new weapons and trying to manage them is a blast, I have several that are just waiting for me to get to the next level so i can equip them. Wish this game had a bank feature of some sort. |
