I know heat is not a friend to pcs but does it help to add some kind of cooling device?
When I watch something like espn.360 or hulu you can hear the fan running at an increased rate.
If needed what would be a place to start looking in to this? |

1 edit | First - find out the temps before doing anything to see if there is an issue. Adding hardware to cool down a PC that doe snot necessarily need to be cooled down more would be a waste. A fan running at higher rpms is not necessarily a bad thing automatically.
Second - you need to look at the case and the airflow thru the case. How many fans blowing in vs blowing out and how much air is being moved. Are cables in the way of the airflow?
Third - Look at ambient temps - can they be lowered?
Fourth - retail or aftermarket heatsink and fan?
There are slot fans that can be added in but if there is not enough air moving out of the case then the added fan would be useless. -- Brian

| reply to deke40 Maybe people could suggest the good applications presently available for monitoring temps under windows?
An alternative would be to run the applications that you are concerned about for a while after the fans run up and then reboot into your bios and see what the bios shows for your temps. You can post them here. |
