@alter.net | Fios user Guide HD? Update?
So I asked this question in July and now it's November and I still haven't heard a peep on an update. I was trying to bump the previous thread but it was older than two weeks.
Anyone heard of anything about this? |

It's probably just like trying to obtain one of the new Westell or Actiontec Rev. E routers and the newer 7 series STBs. New installs and adding a new STB to your account once they are in your local Verizon's stock would get you one. Then, over time as Verizon replaces their stock with the new ones, if you need a replacement STB due to a technical issue Verizon could drop ship you out one assuming it had replaced the old ones in stock.
That's how they do it now and knowing Verizon they don't change their system too often...remember billing? |

People still get the 6-series STBs even when they want the 7-series and other customers in their area have them. As far as STBs go, Vz will give out either, depending on whatever is in stock locally (e.g. they're not totally discontinuing the 6-series...)
I think for routers it's different these days because people aren't required to return them... so the older ones aren't around to ship out again. |

Installs are always new routers. However, if VZ ships you a replacement router, you may get a refurbished unit. They expect the old router to be returned and it is refurbished. Although I doubt They would refurbish my Rev. A Actiontec. |

| reply to FiosFubar Since the new DVR is rumored to have double the HDD capacity, I suspect you'll be able to upgrade and that it'll be offered at a premium price over the standard DVR.
That's purely speculation.
It's not like they have to roll out techs for DVR installs. They just ship them in the mail. |
