Weird security setup

Dont know if this is the forum to put this in, but here goes anyway.

Well today I got a call from one of my customers, he does wiring for a video security company. Well here is what he asked:

Is it possible to feed video surveillance from a DVR (CPT SDR401/160) to a website.

After going to do the consultation I find out, he only has access to portable internet. So he is gonna need a point to point wireless network provider.

Now, without having my equipment to see whats possible on hand with that dvr, I figure the guys gonna need a server that can handle capture compress and re transmit on the fly.

Im aiming for a 6 second lag time from camera to website server location thats only about 30km away from the residence.

My whole problem right now is needing to get in there and test the software of the dvr and see what it can do.

But in the end I think it will have to be some serious work horse of a server to do all this on the fly.

From what I read in the manual the dvr broadcasts 30fps at 480i x4 (4 being the number of split screens).

Now the server needs to take that capture and compress on the fly to some nice condensed avi format, then retransmit on the fly for a website server.

Any suggestions of what kind of hardware and software that is needed, would be great.

How can I monitor remotely? »www.maplin.co.uk/media/PDFs/CCTV.pdf

I'm sure something similar at decent $ should be available in your part of the world

That product looks good, but the DVR thats in use has motion sensors as well.

The DVR sits there taking 10 frames ever 1 second until it detects some sort of motion then starts filming at 30 frames. It also is set to record only on motion is activated. This system is very up there. He spent something like 3-4k on the system itself (with install).

All this website stuff and remote viewing was an after thought. Its for the guys business.
