It look likes this router has some warts. Read this and let me know what you want to do.

That would be the best way. You could try to fight it out and try every trick and maybe you can get that router to work.

Any suggestions on Brand/Model

Need at least 8 ports

Could do 8 port router or router to 8 port switch.

Here is a chart that I did for OOL. It gives you a start. IIRC these are all 4 port routers.

»Optimum Online FAQ »What routers are compatible with OOL's standard & Boost tiers?

You can also do a Google search on 8 port routers.

Answer from netgear

Thank you for choosing NETGEAR. My name is Arthur and I will be your support engineer.

The speed issue you're experiencing is due a hardware limitation of the device. The device has a max WAN to LAN throughput of 11.5Mbps, however after configuration overhead you'll see an average of 6-8Mbps, and if you have any firewall rules, or blocked sites configured you'll see even slower speeds.Unfortunately the only resolution is to purchase a more up to date device such as the FVS338.

Thank you again for choosing NETGEAR. Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Arthur

LOL, at least the guy is honest. Run, don't walk away from Netgear.

I am partial to Linksys, but get what suits your needs.

That’s about as good as it gets. It isn’t going to get much better than that. Put a fork in it you’re done.
