| [Wireless] WET610N bridge print problems on G I've got a WRT54GS wireless network that includes a HP2710 AIO wireless printer. PCs directly wired to the router and a bridged (Wrt54G) PC print great to the networked HP. When I replaced the Wrt54G with the WET610N bridge the print jobs start but never finish and errors out. All other wireless network capabilities work great with the WET610N.
I've upgraded the WET610N firmware and still no print.
At least I can reconfigure my network so the WET610N can talk to the Sprint Airave. It certainly doesn't like HP wirless print jobs on G! |

| I hate posting to myself but...
After a little internet research it turns out other WET610N users have similar/same problems. One poster over on smallnetbuilder identified that the bridge is adding to the length of smaller than standard packets.
"Crawdad: I found that the WET610N is recomputing the TCP checksum. (I can't imagine why.) When the packet is shorter than the ethernet minimum (64 bytes total, 46 bytes IP+TCP+payload), the 610 includes the ethernet padding in the checksum. The checksum differs from the pre-bridge packet's checksum by exactly the contribution of those bytes."
This is outside my expertise but it makes sense that WET610N could make communication problems that cause my print jobs to error. There are other 610n users that have print probs too. Crawdad was having internet problems on some sites. Linksys has been told of this.
Any other user seen this behavior or is it isolated to my batch of 610ns which I doubt? Is it isolated to 2.4GHz or does it go to N?
I hope 610n users can find this useful because I spent hours loading, reloading, cursing HP software and drivers. They deserved it but for other reasons.
In the begining, all I wanted was a WET54G bridge (discontinued) and ended up with a 90% useful, expensive WET610N that is buggy. |

| reply to inoudo Found out this today. It isn't just on G.
I'm using a WET610N with a Trendnet Wireless-N router. Can't print to an HP Color Laserjet 2605dn. Get garbled pages and syntaxerror messages.
Seems like a known issue with the WET610N. I called Linksys. They don't know squat. |

1 edit | Do NOT Buy A WET610N bridge with HP Printer until they fix it!
or DUMP your HP PRINTER!
Linksys has known about it for at least 1 YEAR.
Do not put a WET610N bridge in the loop with a HP Printer. It will not work!
Check the linksys site for more info from unsatisfied users. |
