 | Best web-filtering software? Hi all.
I am just curious if you know what types of software medium size companies are using to block sites, such as social networking sites from their employees.
Most everything I have found seems to be some sort of parental control software, but I am sure there is more "heavy-duty" software out there that can be licensed on hundreds of computers.
Thank you... |

Add my vote for Websense. It's a popular product for companies who need to monitor and filter network activity for more than just a few people. the gateway product is very scalable.
If you don't need the granularity of configuration Websense has, and don't mind DNS redirection to ad pages when a user requests an invalid or offline URL, then Open DNS may work. Applications that require generic error messages or can't handle redirections may not work well with Open DNS. -- The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding. -- Justice Louis D. I just told you.....Its Blue Coat appliances...They have two versions. A hardware appliance (sort of like a router) and they have a software version also. You can also customize the Access Denied window also to your needs....
And also, try ASTARO...Its free and Open Source. |
