help geforce gtx 260ocx not good enough

Hi all, please help, I would like to know which ^&%$&#$ card is going to be able to run my game smoothly.
Last Jan I put together an i7 6 gigs of ram, vista 64bit and chose the above mentioned BFG card.
This system has handled everything I've thrown at it on the highest levels except one game.
I play Sins of a Solar Empire - Entrenchment at least 4 nights a week. Everything works great until late game (huge multi sun maps). I have tried all the official drivers that have been released up until now, but to no avail, the games chugs instead of flows.
It wouldn't bother me so much as it's only 1 game, but it's my favorite game.
So, what am I to do? Is there a better card out there? Tweaks (short of turning down the detail)?
I believe BFG allows a trade up if I'm not mistaken?
What nvidia card would you guys/gals recommend?
P.S. all other games from farcry2 to batman arkham asylum to world in conflict run without a hitch on max settings.
TIA

If BFG has a trade up program, I would go with 285 card.

If they don't, then I would go with a 5870.

Thats because the Sins engine can't handle the very high unit counts. It's not an issue of your computer - It's the game.

World In Conflict running without a hitch should tell you this.

Heh, I had that thought, but I cannot fit another card that length into the antec 900. Love the airflow, dislike the cramped layout inside that box.

Precisely why I've debated replacing my 900 with a 1200.
My old edition 900 doesn't have any cable management features whatsoever. The new 1200's are roomy and have cable management holes pre-drilled.

Yeah I had the 900. I bought the 1200 & love it... I still use the 900 for my server in my basement! =)
