| Quality of desktop PC's made by eMachines Sorry for such a general question, but I would like to know if anyone has had experience with PC's made by eMachines.
This brand is now owned by Acer which also owns Gateway. As far as I can see the values are good but I wonder if there are quality issues, short-term or long-term.
Thanks for any info! |

maxey13Premium join:2001-06-02 Anderson, IN | I've had 1 laptop and 1 desktop. Laptop is 4 years old. Still running with only a hard drive replacement. The desktop is 5 years old. Never had to replace anything. Never had to use tech support.

| reply to PX Eliezer I had an Emachines laptop for about 4 years and it always worked perfect. I just sold it last year because I wanted something smaller and I went to a netbook. I've heard people knock them "because they are cheap they must be crap" but I've had a great experience with one and I know a few people who had desktops and loved them too. If the right deal came around and I needed one I wouldn't think twice about getting another one or recommending one to someone else. |

KoRnGtL15Premium join:2007-01-04 Grants Pass, OR | reply to PX Eliezer I am on a emachines currently that is going on 5 years old that is on 24/7. Bought brand new at the time. I have only had the psu go out on me and the stock psu lasted about 3 1/2 years. My dvd burner also went out. It still works. Just the burning will not work any more. Other then those 2 minor things. It has been a fantastic machine. Beware. With these "value" machines. And when I say emachines. It is not just them using cheap psu's. Mine had a "Bestec" in it and I have seen new ones come with them. Replace it with a quality psu and you will have a solid machine that is reliable. Plus if you want to add more things. It is better to have more juice for down the line. I would have no problem purchasing another emachines myself. But I would buy a new psu with it. |
