 just signed up

Well, I just signed up with Big net based on a referal by a Covad installer. I was made clear on the pricing by a phone sales women. She also promised to keep my contract by her desk to make sure that we got our installation as soon as possible.
Now maybe she has done that or maybe she hasn't. I will give her the benifit of believing her. My only concern is the service that some of you have complained of. Has any of your problems been solved? Or does anybody have any good coments? I have read through alot of companies complaints and Big net seems to be one of the better ones. I was worried about signing up so soon to DSL service in general, because there is alot of bugs to be worked out of all aspects of the DSL trade.
So here's to crossing my fingers and toes, that I have made the right decission! LOL! I will post at each phase of the process in hopes of providing everyone with the good, the bad and the ugly of Big net DSL.

I hope you have better luck than me. I've been waiting almost two full months now (order 6/2) to get my IDSL installed. I finally gave up on getting any info from BigNet: they don't return emails or phone calls. I go direct to Covad now. They at least answer the phone, but they still can't tell me when my loop is going to be installed, much less when (if?) I'll ever actually get service.

I just got my IDSL switched on by Covad - I'm not sure what local telco you're under, but USWest was painfully slow in installing the loop. They cancelled their install date three times! Fortunately, after the telco was done, Covad was on the spot in 5 days, and I'm a happy surfer! So, your loop delivery problems are most likely due to your local telco - when I called Bignet regarding the slow delivery, the customer service tech immediately said, "Ameritech. Nope? Pac Bell. Nope? Where you from?" "UsWest." "Yep, it's your local telco." I ordered DSl on 6/2 also, btw got switched on on Aug 1.

Well here is my next up-date. It is 8/17 today. I have recieved several updates from Bignet keeping me informed on the local telephone co. delivery dates. First date was Sept. 3. Then a couple of days later they sent another email and had move the date foward (gasp!!)to Aug. 21.Today, when I came home from lunch, Ameritech was ouside on the pole setting up their part.( I almost fainted!) They said tomorrow they had to go underground by my house and do something and then they would be finished. My friend down the street is in shock. He went with another co. and just finially got up and running 6 months after his first payment. Now I know I have a ways to go yet, but so far so good......stay tuned.

Well I am the one that has been trying to give a good account of how my service is going from calling in the order to actual use. After being so excited with Ameritech comming out ahead of the date I was given, we have hit a problem... We called BigNet to see when the next step of the installation would take place. BigNet gave us COVADS phone # to call. Called COVADS they tell us that Ameritech was having a problems with the line. The man we talked to didn't have the info on what the problem was, so he was forwarding a inquiry to another dept. to contact us with the details. So we'll see...rogermel69@aol.com
