 | [360] what to do with RRoD 360? my 360 from launch rrod'd on me a couple of months ago. since it's from launch it's past the 3 year warranty period. instead of paying ms $100 to have it repaired i replaced it with a 120gb jasper elite (already got my $50 rebate). i called gamestop and they said they'd give me $35 for it. i know i could also put it on ebay or cl but i wanted to see what everyone on here recommends first. thanks! |

 | thanks ztmike. i should i have stated that i don't want to bother fixing it because it'll probably rrod again. i also replaced it with jasper elite. i want to get rid of it but i'm not sure which method (trading in to gamestop, ebay, etc) will give me the most money back. |

stevennbOk, But, Thats The Last Straw.Premium join:2001-05-08 Wayne, NJ 1 edit | I went to Gamestop yesterday to get some gamecube games to play on the Wii.
Anyways, there was a father and son who are returning their 3rd Xbox360 (refurbished from gamestop). From what the Dad said , this is the 3rd system from gamestop within in past 2 weeks that crapped out on them. The father asked " Don't you guys test these systems before selling them"? The kid behind the counter was stammering and was like " I guess we don't".
The Dad got his $ back and was off to get a new xbox360 from toys r us (as he didn't want to deal with gamestop anymore).
I don't blame him but they seem to be the only whore in town for used games / accessories. -- "They moved my desk 4 times already this year and I used to be over by the window and I could see the squirrels and they were married, but then they moved my desk and they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler. |

|
 | do you remember how much they gave you for it? i called them last week and they said the trade in price for that week was $30, i guess the price can change every week. all they need is the console, power supply, av cords and 1 wireless controller. they don't need the 20gb hd. |

The Gamestop here is really picky, about the condition of the stuff they buy. I was not aware they would accept a broken console or anything of that matter.
I'll have to call them and ask them about it sometime.
It would seem to me that if the console is RROD and out of warranty that they wouldn't want to eat the cost of having it repaired.. -- I am hotter than phone sex with a blind girl. |

 | when i called gamestop last week i told them mine had the rrod and was outside of the 3 year warranty and they said they would give me $30 for it as long as i also included the power supply, av cords and the wireless controller, they confirmed over the phone that they did not need the 20gb hard drive. i asked about this since i'm currently using mine in my new elite and have not yet needed to use the 120gb hd that it came with. |

| reply to ztmike It's the luck of the draw with gamestops, I've been to really great ones and a few that I've never visited again, the guys at mine tested mine even after I told them it was rrod.
This is my thinking on them buying the rrod ones is that they probably just resell them back to MS as spare parts for a tiny profit. -- One time a person asked where the F button was on their keyboard. I told them they would find it next to the U button. |

1 edit | said by Van:Sell on EBay telling people it has the RROD Some will buy it and fix it themselves Why would anyone want to? Just for the sake of argument... if it has crapped out before(maybe more than once w/previous owner) why would you waste any money buying a bricked console? It's not like 360's are even that expensive anymore.
And even if you did fix it with new parts, you would probably spend close to enough money to buy a brand new one anyways. If you did replace the CPU it would eventually RRoD again a year later due to the other faulty 1-3 gen components/engineering. Buying a bricked console on Ebay is absolutely retarded. It's just not even worth it.
You might as well purchase a new 360 with updated components. |

Sell it and get some money
Friends have done this and gotten some extra $$$ to go towards a new 360 |

Create a piece of junk product that they no longer repair for free and charge up the a*s for it. While at the same time selling new consoles to the suckers who are too naive to realize that the product is garbage. Everyone just keeps coming back for me.
Cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, shame on me. Cheat me three times, and I'll still continue to buy your product and be a sucker
The units sold by Microsoft is pretty damn skewed since it doesn't account for multiple purchases by the same consumer due to a faulty product. |

If he can sell it and get some poor sap out there to buy it then more power to him. |

Frankly, this just tells me that despite the "garbage" console - people are willing to put up with that for the 360 experience rather than go with another more reliable system. That actually speaks volumes about the other systems, if you ask me. |
