[FP] More points are GOOD for you and the team. Read below:

Pande group has designed something new to encourage
folks to process work faster. Along with it, (of course) there
are new clients and cores to enable the processing.

Starting this week, there are new work units released
that are intended to be processed with Linux and Windows
machines running the latest version of smp.

Version 6.29 of the smp client can be found here: »folding.stanford.edu/Eng ··· Download

If your hardware is able to run these work units, you can
for example, earn in excess of 4000 points per day for yourself
and the team on a stock Quad Core Q6600 processor.

The announcement of the new SMP2 core is here: »foldingforum.org/viewtop ··· &t=13038

Of course, there is one more gotcha, in that to qualify to begin
earning the bonus, you must have a passkey, you must have
turned in ten valid (10) smp work units, and you must continue
to turn in at least 80% good work units thereafter.

To get a passkey, you need your username and a working
e-mail account. Visit this page: »fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi ··· sskey.py
The passkey is unique for each username and e-mail address,
if you change either, you will need a new passkey, and must
requalify as explained above. (The passkey generator is case sensitive. Mixing case on both the username and associated e-mail address will generate a different passkey.)

For more information about passkeys, visit here: »folding.stanford.edu/Eng ··· -passkey

For more information on how the bonus points are calculated,
see here (warning, very complicated): »foldingforum.org/viewtop ··· &t=13039

Note: Third party monitoring tools are useful to many folks
here. At this time, FAHmon: »fahmon.net/ does not understand how the bonus points
are calculated, it will only display the base points.
HFM.net: »code.google.com/p/hfm-net/ will properly estimate your bonus score if you
check the box in it's configuration to allow it.

foldy operators, to maximize points to the team, you should
implement the passkey as soon as practical. You should not
use the same passkey for your personal systems.

Thanks for all your work ferreting out this info and compiling it to make it easy for Ops and team mates to get up to speed quickly.

This is great, even if it does make me want to spend money on hardware I really need for other things.

Just a small point- there's also an OS X/intel client.

Unfortunately, not yet. Not until next weekend, as it's a remote machine. Then I'll pop in my existing passkey and set it up.

Both 7s are now running with a passkey, but it looks like standard a1 cores got pulled down. Not sure if the linux bootdisk I'm using is able to request the new SMP2 client.

So far I'm not thrilled. Foldy2 doesn't appear to be earning any extra points.

I followed the instructions, but so far, no change.

SMP client, version 6.29?

Running with the passkey?

You have completed 10 or more GRO-A2 or A3 WUs successfully? (A3 WUs are currently P60xx WUs)

I think so, any easy way to check with a screenreader?

If you kept all your logs, we could go through the logs and count them.

I got it. (took me a bit... my VPN keeps dropping off)

EDIT: JAWS says 14 WU's, and working on 15, but its' count (I had it search for "a3.exe") is notoriously inaccurate.

These are the last two within the log that should qualify. Now, if a Pande super moderator could look, that might settle the issue. I counted 16 "thank you's"

One thing I've discovered in the last couple of days

The stats lookup page here: »fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi ··· serstats

If you enter the user name, you get the total number of credits and WU's returned for every machine you have working under that user name.

If you instead enter the passkey, you will get only the results turned in for that particular passkey. If you have only one machine crunching for that passkey, you can check the results and credits issued.

Since passkey's are generated uniquely for each username/password combination, *AND* they are case sensitive, if you have more than one machine to follow using the passkey "trick", you could get a different passkey for each machine, using differing case in your e-mail. For example Gmail.com would generate a different passkey than gMail.CoM.

Using the passkey on that page, I get this:

It confirms 16 having been sent home, for a total of 18,656 points. If you check after the 17th, you will be able to see the amount of points credited.

On foldy1 today I upgraded to the 64-bit Linux 6.29 console client, generated a passkey, and configured the client to use the passkey. Immediately handed A1 core. From this thread:
»foldingforum.org/viewtop ··· &t=13038

receiving bonus points requires returning 10 or more A2 or A3 (SMP2) cores with the passkey.

That is correct. They are handing out the occasional A1 core as well as some A2 cores in the last couple of weeks. We have no choice, we crunch whatever we are given.

The Folding Forum mods are fairly limited at what we can see in regard to returned WUs presently, still waiting for mod access to the database to be fixed.

I currently can only see the last returned WU for each client for an account by looking up the account. Currently, of those, the ones I see getting bonus points are:

Linux client returned this WU: P6014 Run:0 Clone:89 Gen: 22 for total points of 2256.89

Linux client returned this WU: P6021 Run:0 Clone:24 Gen: 18 for total points of 2242.91

Those two came from the same Op (I believe those were from parkut).

From a different Op (I believe this was from Erin):

Windows client returned this WU: P6012 Run:0 Clone:486 Gen: 19 for total points of 2292.66

From yet another Op (I believe this is alphapointe, see below):

Linux client returned this WU: P6021 Run:0 Clone:101 Gen: 7 for total points of 2185.32

=================================

This does not mean some other clients are not receiving bonus WUs. It only means, of all reporting foldy clients, only those four clients received bonus points for their last returned WU.

Looking at the uploaded logs, I believe this one was from your foldy, alphapointe. So, at least from that point on you were getting the bonuses.

Good news! It appears the folding forum mod capability for checking status of returned WUs is coming back. No retroactive data, but I think I can now check WUs for you if you give me this line from your log:

Project: 6023 (Run 0, Clone 148, Gen 12)

BTW, I think this one was returned by Erin:
Hi TH_Foldinator (team 4),
Your WU (P6015 R0 C197 G14) was added to the stats database on 2010-02-08 04:04:13 for 2384.18 points of credit.

Even longer, I checked in today on progress and found that foldy1 got stuck reporting results to Stanford which is rather odd and I haven't seen that in a long time.

From the logs we can see that foldy1 finished on Feb 9 and then this repeats until I killed it today:
[20:48:24] Folding@home Core Shutdown: FINISHED_UNIT

How do you know when its working on a higher point WU? From queue-dump (qd) and usa2k's FAH-Tool there is a 3340 pointer on foldy1 right now. Using passkey to look up donor stats on FAH site, I can see two WUs have been reported since I've setup the box to use the passkey (1920 and 1760 pointers).

The Gromacs GRO-A3 units which are only issued to A3 cores are listed here: »fah-web.stanford.edu/psu ··· ary.html

They have a "K" factor shown in the far right column. The "K" factor is used in the bonus formula.

The first post in this thread has a link to the actual formula.
