 | Computer shutting down Hello, I am pretty sure I know the cause of this problem, but i want some feedback before contacting the company due to the part still being under warranty.
About 3 weeks ago I had a random shutdown. There was a nice storm out, so I thought that was the problem. To get my PC to boot, I had to switch off the PSU switch, then it booted fine.
This week I have been getting random shutdowns at random intervals. I have everest ultimate monitoring my temps, and they are all fine. My PSU volts seem right on par too. It started once a day earlier this week. Today it happened about 3 times in 3 hours and now it wont boot at all. The case was not dirty at all (cosmos1000) and there is no cords in the way to block the airflow of my 6 fans. All of the fans were spinning as noted on my controllers. Everytime it shutdown, I would have to hi the switch on the PSU before it would boot.
Now it won't boot at all, I tried using the case power switch, and also the switch on my motherboard. When i hit the switch, all of the fans do about 1/4 rotation and nothing happens after that.
Thanks. |

| reply to carcass If you have another power supply, try it. It might be a PSU issue. If its not, then try this:
Remove all non-essential cards - you want to boot with a hard disk, video card, CPU and Memory. Remove and reinsert RAM. Also check to make sure the CPU is seated and the thermal contact between the CPU and heat sink are not compromised.
If after all of these checks, it doesn't boot, I'd suspect the motherboard or a faulty CPU. -- "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not one bit simpler."- Albert Einstein |

If you built it, then do as you like,
If it's under warranty, then by all means contact the builder before you touch it and find out what they want you to do before even opening the case!
Opening the case can indeed void your warranty. -- ---Barney |

| reply to carcass Try this:
Unplug power from the PSU Switch PSU off Remove CMOS battery and tap and hold each end with a screw driver for a minute or so
