kudos:3 | PS3 update loop My little brother gave me a ps3 with the ylod. By his discription and a little research, I decided that it was a bad solder joint.
I cracked her open and hit it with the pencil torch.
Power on: Good to go! she's running!
So I'm entertaining myself with some PS2 games when my buddy comes over and pops COD in there.
It starts to update itself and never finishes.
Now the stupid thing is stuck in a never ending loop. When you power it on, it automatically starts the process, gets to 55% and kicks over and dies. Upon reboot, I end up with the same loop.
Can't access the safety beep-beep beep beep thing, and don't know what else to do.
Anybody have this problem and fix it?

Unless someone speaks up soon, I'll pull the blue ray and HD and it's going to be a target this weekend.

| Target thing sounds good.
Both systems suck w/ all this failure rate crap. Was real uneasy about getting my son a PS3 for Christmas, hope it lasts. Our launch 360 just bit the dust last week. RROD in 08, did the xclamp fix and got another 16 months out of it, now it's RIP. |

kudos:3 | Nope. I figured she wasn't too into video game stuff, and thought someone one here may have fixed the problem.
It's getting to 99% now before it stops, whereas it was only getting to 54. Maybe it'll fix itself.
