Updating an Earthlink PepWave Surf

I have an EarthLink PepWave Surf at firmware version 6.5.41 but am having problem turning the DHCP server off. Anyone know how to get it to upgrade to the PepWave firmware 6.5.42?

have you tried here »www.pepwave.com/

Also, this forum is not the correct place for this question as you are asking about Earthlink WiFi hardware. Perhaps the better suited forum is the Wireless Networking forum here. I'll PM a mod to have the thread moved.

Yes PepWave tell me:

"
All EarthLink-distributed Surf devices are custom-built for EarthLink and its operated networks. These units are non-upgradable. They were the property of EarthLink. Unfortunately, PePWave is not in a position to make any changes to these units.
"

which is a pity, since the firmware is clearly Pepwaves with a few cosmetic modifications for Earthlink, but Earthlink didn't make the final move to version 6.5.42

It was my hope that someone might have figured out how to hack the PepWave 6.5.42 firmware (which PepWave makes available) so that the Earthlink units update would not reject it.

That said, despite its present flaws, I have it busy working as a bridge, ethernet converter or wifi modem, whatever they are calling such units these days (I have the non-AP version).

I think I may have discovered a way

The free "InControl" management software by PepWave is capable of a 'Forced Update' and so might be able to do the desired update.

Is there anyone out there that is using this software and so might be able to help me out?
