If you've changed your system, put "ADDED" next to the new component(s).
If you haven't changed anything - don't post!

Cooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower Asus P7P55D-E PRO Socket 1156 (USB3 and SATA3 with PCIe bridge chip) Intel Core i7 860 LGA1156 2.80Ghz (not OC'd yet, but only gets up to 55C under load stock because of...) Zalman CNPS10X Quiet CPU Cooler G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1600MHz 2x2GB 7-8-7-24 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB RAID0 Corsair TX Series CMPSU-750TX Power Supply Seagate Barracuda LP 1.5TB (had already, backup drive) Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS (even older than 2005 machine, should have dusted it off!) Hauppauge HVR-1250 PCIe ATSC Tuner ASUS EAH4870 DK Top 512MB (had already, stock 815/925 can do 875/1050)
I finally upgraded my old Athlon X2 (socket 939 with DDR400 and PATA drives). It held out a long time: from single core to dual-core, 1GB to 2GB, and I think it went through 4 video cards including the latest one I brought to my new machine (7600gs, 7900gs, 9600gt, hd4870) . However, new games have been badly bottlenecked by the CPU/RAM speed for about a year.
The case was cramped too as you can see, picture the 4870 in there extending right up to the end of the mobo into that mess of cables and less than 1cm away from the top HD (which would be right on top of the lower HD if I lowered it). By comparison (ignore the dust plz, need to clean that up) the HAF 922 isn't much bigger, it's the sideways HD mounts and space to put the cables behind the mobo that make most of the difference. A modular supply would've been nice but at $50-75 more I'll live with the pile extra cables at the bottom.
That huge cooler didn't leave much room for the RAM, there's about 0.5cm and a similar stick with a heatsink wouldn't fit in the slot under the cooler at all! One of my requirements for the mobo was two usable (more than 2 slots below or above the GFX card) PCIe x1 slots so I could have the tuner and possibly a PCIe sound card in the future. Unfortunately that slot above the GFX card is barely usable with that huge cooler there, but it's OK for now and should let me a good OC when I get around to it. Turning the cooler to blow up wouldn't make much difference from what I can see, the extension is about the same on the sides and fan.
I wish I'd spent a bit more on the 1GB 4870 last year, but the 512MB has new life with this system (runs 10C cooler too) so I'm going to wait for 5850 or 5870 to come down in price. |

i7 920 Quad Core EVGA X58 ATX LGA1366 OCZ XTC Platinum OCZ3P1333LV6GK DDR3-1333 6GB 3X2GB CL7-7-7-20 Triple Channel Memory Antec Three Hundred Mini Tower Gaming Case Geforce GTX 270 OC PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W Quad Power Supply Western Digial 640GB + 2 500GB WD HD LG DVDRW (Its lousy. Should have purchased the Samsung.)
This was my first build and everything went fine. Even booted up on the first try, which was a fluke. The major mistake I made was not installing an after market heatsink, which means I can't overclock. The Video Card is massive which prevents one Bay from being utilized. Still is plenty fast. -- tO hAvE KnOWLeDgE AnD nOt sHaRe iT iS A wAsTe There is an exception to every rule

| reply to dragon I'm too lazy to build computers even though I have a BSEE Bought two new systems in the past two months...
March saw the arrival of an HP MediaSmart Server EX490 running WHS PowerPack 3:
* Intel Celeron Processor 2.2 GHz 64-bit * 2GB DDR2 DRAM * 1.0 TB SATA 7200 RPM (system drive) * 3 x 1.5 TB SATA 7200 RPM * 4 USB 2.0 ports * 1 eSATA port (which I'll take advantage of as soon those 2TB drives drop in price a bit )
Not my photo but it's a good one:

Also bought two gigabit switches on the same day so our LAN is finally up to snuff
A week ago, this arrived:

An HP TouchSmart 600xt / All-in-One PC: * Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T6600 [2.2GHz, 2MB L2, 800MHz FSB] * 6GB DDR3-1066MHz SODIMM [2 DIMMs] * 640GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive * 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT230M * 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor
Running Windows Home Premium x64 and it's definitely a keeper. In addition to all my usual desktop activities, it's also loaded up with Boxee (a media center of sorts sans PVR) and Hava (like a Slingbox) which is integrated with WMC as a PVR.
The TouchSmart media apps are somewhat of a disappointment though given purchase #1 (above) -- those applications don't "see" any networked-media (!?) I'm hoping for an update at some point by HP...
Surprisingly, I really really like the low-profile keyboard it comes with (I usually toss/donate OEM keyboards as they're typically ridiculously bulky, low-featured, etc). The "key action" on this thing is really nice though, I wish I could have one like it work.
Best of all, only one cord needed (power, natch) though I went ahead and added my 2.1 speakers so but that doesn't count, right? |

I'm back down to 4GB of memory. I got two orders of the same memory. The first order was causing cold boot BSOD's and was returned. I'm thinking of moving to AMD specific OCZ or G.Skill. |
