 | Need to upgrade old system I wanna make my system gameworthy with as little money as possible.
My system currently
C2D E6400 @ 3.4Ghz Abit IP35-E 4GB DDR2-800 eVGA 6800GS 256mb PCI-E
Obviously the graphic card is ancient by today's standards. I want to spend no more than $150. What should I get?
I was looking into a HD5770 but I'm not sure if its worth the money. Should I bother upgrading any other parts of the system? |

 | I've got an Antec Trueblue 480 watt. What do you guys think? With a HD5770, it should be a decent gaming system? |
|
1 edit | Your power supply should be enough, i think u hit the right word and that it should be a "decent" gaming machine.
Anything higher than a 5770 your cpu might be a bottleneck.

 | I can get another stable 200 Mhz out of this cpu by pushing to 3.6 Ghz, not that it will make it that much faster. I'll just have to get an Core i5 750 soon, its just a pain to upgrade the motherboard and memory just for the CPU. |

Yeah for now get the 5770, or if you can find it a lot cheaper the GT250 ($20 less isn't enough) |
