Re: Need Help with BOINC and Ubuntu

Yeah, that's the ticket. That worked...thanks.

If anyone is interested, I also installed Dotsch/UX on a pendrive and it worked like a charm. I'll prob go with the Dotsch distro in the future over ubuntu 9.x

Greetings,

One trick that you can use to always know where BOINC is storing the juicy goods of the work units it to bring up the boinc manager just after starting the application and take a look at the "Messages" tab. Look for the "Data directory:" log entry. This will tell you, upon every startup where BOINC is looking for work. This is great when troubleshooting.

That said, I noticed you were looking to change distro's. Please keep in mind that the "curve" of running BOINC doesn't necessarily change. The issues do sometimes but the core of Linux is fairly standard.

Cheers,
ayoustic

The prob is that I can't seem to figure out how to boot Ubuntu 10 from a USB drive. No prob with Ubuntu 9, but then it has the issues posted above.

I think the Dotsch distro is better for my purposes since it's easy to install on a bootable USB drive and it runs BOINC natively.
