| Re: Your System - July 2010 Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L & Intel E6500 2.93GHz | Handy-dandy built-in cable keeper | P4 connection just a bit on the short side. | Cleanest rig I've ever had. |
Just got through building this yesterday, hopefully the pictures will help someone. The P4 connection was way too short to route behind, and it rested on the heatsink of the videocard, so I had to keep it out of harms way with a couple of zip ties. I'll assume there are extension cables available to remedy this. I also didn't like the standard cooling material on the bottom of the Intel heatsink. I will order some Arctic Silver and take care of that before I fire it all up. I'll be installing Win7 Ultimate I got for free at a MS event in Dallas last year.
By no means a powerhouse, but I'm happy that this new rig will keep me entertained for a while with some light-duty HTPC use in my office (still searching for a tuner card).
The Parts:
Lian-Li PC-K56 case with added mesh filter for the Power Supply (I share my office with 2 cats)
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L mobo
Asus GeForce 8400GS 512MB Video
G.Skill 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W Power Supply
Lite-On DVD Burner iHAS424-98 -- Assimilate THIS. Lt. Worf |

Switching back and forth between 2x5770's and one GTX 460 the 5770's keep crashing at the desktop.
27" 1ms Viewsonic monitor Razer Lycosa Keyboard Razer Deathadder Mouse
I also use the computer for a little audio recording PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2 M-Audio AV30 speakers (sound great)
I have only ran the windows score with a single 5770 in it and I got a 7.4 with the video card limiting performance. I'll have to check the scores with both 5770's and the with the 460 GTX and see what kind of difference it shows. |
