Your System - July/August 2010

Post your system specs if you've built/bought a new system during the month of July/August.

If you've changed your system, put "ADDED" next to the new component(s).

If you haven't changed anything - don't post!

Cleanest rig I've ever had.
Just got through building this yesterday, hopefully the pictures will help someone. The P4 connection was way too short to route behind, and it rested on the heatsink of the videocard, so I had to keep it out of harms way with a couple of zip ties. I'll assume there are extension cables available to remedy this. I also didn't like the standard cooling material on the bottom of the Intel heatsink. I will order some Arctic Silver and take care of that before I fire it all up. I'll be installing Win7 Ultimate I got for free at a MS event in Dallas last year.

By no means a powerhouse, but I'm happy that this new rig will keep me entertained for a while with some light-duty HTPC use in my office (still searching for a tuner card).

The Parts:

Lian-Li PC-K56 case with added mesh filter for the Power Supply (I share my office with 2 cats)

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L mobo

Asus GeForce 8400GS 512MB Video

G.Skill 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W Power Supply

Lite-On DVD Burner iHAS424-98

First rig I built..

*Case: Coolermaster HAF 932 Full tower--I painted Satin Black on the inside.

*Motherboard: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3

*RAM: 4GB DDR3 G.Skill RipJaws (Red ones) 1600

*CPU: AMD X6 1090T BE @4.0ghz overclock

*Harddrive that OS is installed on: WD Black 1TB 7200 32cache

*PSU: Corsair 750 watts
I might upgrade this soon or a little down the road and with modular instead...even with my case cable management and full tower all the cables are still a pain.

*Monitor: Dell ST2410 24" 1920x1080p
Looking to upgrade to this next
»www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···24001380

*CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212+ with these fans as a push/pull setup »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···35705040

Their however pretty noisy..might get these instead »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···-Product

*Current mouse: Logitech G5

*Speakers: Logitech Z 5500 5.1

*Onboard optical sound

*Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

And on the computer case door replaced the big fan with 4x of these »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···11998121

And 2x 1tb drives for storage inside case.

O and almost forgot..

*A ASUS EAH 5870 V2 GPU that I bought from Newegg for $417.86 and a $20 MIR and will be here on 07-13.

I just added a Samsung BX2440 24" LED 1080p monitor to my Linux system. My wife got it for me for my birthday. It is beautiful!

Already had the WHS O/S from the previous box.

Needed the small case because of space limitation in the closet in my home office. Works great and stays cool and quiet. Quick backups over my GB LAN.

Intel i5-760 (OC'd at 3.8 ghz)
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard
2x2gig corsair PC3-12800 dominator ram
Crucial 128 gig C300 SSD with SATA III
Cooler Master CM 690 II case
Cooler Master Silent Pro M 700w psu
Corsair H50 cpu cooler
5 120mm fans (2 used for push/pull on the H50)

Switching back and forth between 2x5770's and one GTX 460
the 5770's keep crashing at the desktop.

27" 1ms Viewsonic monitor
Razer Lycosa Keyboard
Razer Deathadder Mouse

I also use the computer for a little audio recording
PreSonus AudioBox USB 2x2
M-Audio AV30 speakers (sound great)

I have only ran the windows score with a single 5770 in it and I got a 7.4 with the video card limiting performance. I'll have to check the scores with both 5770's and the with the 460 GTX and see what kind of difference it shows.
