RobNycPremium join:2002-03-06 New York, NY | XBOX360 vs PS3 ? Hello everyone, I am curious to know the difference between xbox360 & ps3. The pros and cons you guys know about them. The reason I ask is because I never owned any of them and don't know much of either.
I have a friend that has a modded xbox360 and a non-modded and is willing to trade either one for my phone. So I thought hey why not?
Thanks in advance |

They are cheap, and a lot of people recommend them. |

 | reply to RobNyc Online play: Xbox Live is $30-$50 a year to play online depending on how patient you are for a sale. There is no free online play with Xbox, but you can download patches for free. PS3 is free to play online for now. Most people her at DSLR say that Xbox Live is superior to the PS3 online experience.
Hard drive: Xbox 360 uses a proprietary drive and you will be paying extra to upgrade your hard drive. PS3 uses a standard 2.5" SATA hard drive and it is cheaper per Gb to upgrade the PS3 drive. Although the drive sizes that are shipping with the Xbox and PS3 these days this might not matter so much depending on if you are going to put tons of media/game installs on your console or not.
Reliability: Xbox is afflicted with the RRoD. PS3 hardware has been more reliable. Keep the RRoD factor in mind if you are buying an older used console. If you are buying a newer Jasper model Xbox this reliability factor probably doesn't matter (get a warranty from Squaretrade.com as mentioned. you should be able to get a warranty on a PS3 or Xbxox for around $30 or less on sale.) |

 | reply to RobNyc One more thing is that you can not make a backup copy of your game saves on the Xbox 360. If your drive dies, there go your game saves. The PS3 gives you a utility out of the box to make backups. This is one more reason I buy multi system games for the PS3 over Xbox.
But it looks like you just want to pirate games or something. Good luck. |

 | reply to RobNyc I chose for the PS3 because the huge amount of hardware failures that kept appearing, on every gaming forum, here on this forum, I read thousands of people going for their second -, third - .... Xbox360.
I chose the PS3 because it's much more reliable, and it offers great media, including the standard of today Blu-Ray.
I have to admit, Sony is playing the game really ugly, taking away nice things and adding commercial crap with every new firmware, and their browser crashes on the fly, sometimes ending up with a corrupt filesystem, and having to start from bare scratch.
Both have their pro's and con's but I'm already happy to say I'm still on my first next-gen console, it's still alive after 1 year, and that's quite an achievement for either Sony or Microsoft consoles. |

Don't expect to be doing any online multiplayer on your "backup" games though. MS has a good history of banning modded consoles. -- University of Southern California - Class of 2010. Fight On! |

I won't be getting none , don't even have enough time to play PC games and I'll just stick to that for now thanks again everyone |
