Need help building low budget desktop

I'm kind of cash strapped here and my old desktop just took a dookie on me.. so I need something cheap.

I don't know much about building computers so could I get some help building a low $$ desktop through newegg?

I have no intentions to upgrade it in the future. It's solely for internet/email/etc..

How much are you looking to spend?

Do you have anything laying around at home that you could use (hard drive, Monitor, etc)?

I have a monitor but that's about it. RGB output. I don't want to use any other parts from the old computer because that thing is prehistoric. The cheaper the better.

It be best if you gave us a price range. IMO, its pretty tough to build everything without $400.

I build my old one for $280. That was for all parts except a monitor. I would like to spend the same or less if possible. I just need something for small tasks.

It's nothing fancy or special, but for $129.99 it's a good basic system.

I've shopped at ecost in the past and have had nothing but good luck with them.

The operating system is what you are gonna pay for unless you can use a flavor of linux.

Here is what I could do for your budget. I recently built a Sempron 140 system for a friends mother in law with all the exact same components and it's a fantastic office pc. Don't get caught in all the dual/quad core hype. If you know that this is mainly for office/web usage then a single core cpu is just fine.

A good benefit of this cpu is high speed ddr3 memory.

That's $300..the computer he can get off ebay is around $100-200.

Although I'm a bit confused why he posted this in PC Gaming.. Which he even said its solely for internet/email ..he might want to have this thread moved as its in the wrong forum section.
