run apps or games off a USB flash disk?

Hey, guys, do you have the experience of running your daily used apps and games off a USB drive?

This is I am now trying to do. But I find that only portable apps can be run like that.

while some apps like MS office are not portably available. How can I do that?

As I understand, an app which requires there to exist certain things in the Windows Registry will not be able to run off a stand alone flash drive.

You may be able to use google to help you find instructions for how to do for some specific software. I wasn't able to find anything that looked too promising for Office, though.

For what purpose?

I've run a Linux live session off of a thumb drive. It's much slower than running it off of a hard drive.

As noted above, any program which requires access to the Windows registry (that's most of them these days) will probably fail to execute.
