Youtube Downloads Blocked!!

Dang it, it looks like youtube has gotten smart and installed some type of blocker on their website. I can no longer download anything off youtube and convert it to mp4.

I was using youtubedownloader which worked great. Now it always says http not found. Same problem with firefox add-ons.

Does anyone know of a program or add-on that still works?

I've been using »www.streamtransport.com/ with good results for a few months now. They update the client every few weeks or so but I've grabbed things from Youtube and Hulu lately with no problems.

One program to try is "save2pc". I had the same issue with a couple of videos. I noticed those were the ones that played an advertisement before hand.

I use an add-on called UnPlug which appears to still be working. But relevant to your post I found this:

Easiest Way To Download Youtube Video Revealed!

Kind Attention Please! (Updated on 24th July, 2010)

Two days back, on 22nd July 2010, Youtube made some changes and after that below listed add-ons have stopped working! Now, these add-ons download 0 bytes and finish the download abruptly. I am keeping eye on the updates of these add-ons and I will update you once they become active once again. ‘Video Download Helper’ was very quick and it released updated add-on in beta version to counter the challenge by Youtube, Impressive!

The Firefox add on Video DownloadHelper has been updated (v4.8) to work with You Tube's new blocker. If you add the converter, it will download to a format of your choice on the fly.

So I'm pretty much disappointed with both political parties. Yeah.

Or you could simply copy the files from your cache and rename them XXXXX.flv - problem solved.

I still vote for Replay Media Catcher, it works for ANY streams, youtube, shoutcast, I think it even works on sites like porntube and hulu....the demo is free, and from what I've found, no limitations, I've been using it for like 5 months.

Video DownloadHelper works with hundreds of sites, not just the more popular ones.

Many youtube downloaders are firefox addons as firefox is cross-platform, whereas StreamTransport, Replay Media Catcher, Getflv etc are all windows programmes. I use the add-on Easy Youtube Video Downloader alongside the add-on DownThemAll!.

Yea but most people don't find it "simple". I mean I do it all the time cuz I am computer literate than most of the people I try telling them this "hint". But I hate having to repeat the instructions unless they make a shortcut.

It must be the site because this one works: »keep-tube.com/

Just google: download youtube videos and you'll find ones that aren't being blocked.

I used to have a shortcut saved in windows xp to my temp internet file but since upgrading to windows 7 the files dont seem to be buffering to anywhere specific. I have found the Temporary Internet folder located in C:\users\(computer name)\appdata\ local\microsoft\windows\Temporary internet files but nothing large seem to be buffering into this file. Any help would be much appreciated.
